Does it make a difference to a college admissions board if you go to a public high school or private high school?

Nope. I had a Brown admissions officer say so herself. There was this one girl at one of the admissions session for Summer@Brown who tried to get the admissions officer to say it matters. She was like,“Well I go to Exeter and if I have a mix of A’s and B’s and someone else who goes a public school has all A’s, I’ll get in over them, right?” The admissions officer said, “We understand that students don’t usually choose their high school. It would be unfair to compare students based on their school. We do compare students from the same school though.”

Definitely not. Many public high schools are just as good, if not better than private ones. But those who can afford to go to private high schools can usually afford things like private SAT tutoring.
