<p>I am a 4-H leader who is trying to encourage the members to participate in the 4-H public speaking contest. I have NO experience with this and was wondering if anyone could make specific suggestions of titles the kids could use for Dramatic Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, or Humorous Interpretation. The “speeches” should be 3-5 minutes in length. Thanks for any help you can provide.</p>
<p>that sounds like the contest from hell. i hate public speaking and i think a lot of people do in general.
for that reason, maybe you try to emphasize some of the positive outcomes from participating in it or really jazz up the idea so that the average teen will want to get involved.</p>
<p>my school held something similar about a year ago but they allowed any form of public speaking, but kind of emphasized reciting slam poetry, doing a skit from a popular movie, etc. it drew a lot of interest.</p>
