Purdue Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

Thanks! Congrats to your DS too!

Son was accepted to Purdue First Year Engineering OOS with a surprise $10K Presidential Scholarship. We didn’t think Purdue offered much merit. Still waiting on Honors College.

For those with merit -congrats!!! Question - did you fill out any additional forms or is merit is evaluated as part of the admission process?

It’s evaluated holistically and is only based on your application from what I’ve read. It should be on your acceptance letter.

they eval for merit automatically with the application. no additional apps for that, only for honors which was essays in the common app.

Deffered.

deferred is not denied!!! this is not a soft reject. Take some time to think about what you could communicate to them to express your ongoing interest or if you’d rather set your sights elsewhere, just let it ride and see what happens

Anyone know how many Presidential and Trustees scholarships are given out to OOS students? Had no ā€œinsaneā€ ECs so was pleasantly surprised.

They always include a wide variety of students in these awards. There’s no magic formula or required accomplishments. Congratulations!! They really want to see you in W Laff!

DS Deferred / OOS / Engineering / ACT 34 (perfect math) / SAT 1460 / GPA 3.98 UW / 4.6 W

Full Dual Enrollment AS Degree with several additional APs (all 4s & 5s) through Calc BC

For all those students who are not getting the answer they had hoped - its OK. It may sting now, but it will be OK. You will find your place. Wherever it is. And you will thrive.

And congrats to all accepted!

I wonder what went wrong though because my stats were pretty good and this was my essay

Is Purdue her top choice?

Go be great! Purdue knows they are passing up good students. You will find the right place.

Daughter deferred from flight program. I imagine the acceptance from deferment is not high for the flight program given its <10% acceptance rate into the program.

my hot take—too much about them, not enough about you.

They know all that about purdue. they don’t know you. Your guidance counselor should know this
