Purdue Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

“my events” and “visit campus”

Mine was there when I submitted up until the box went away for me. Not sure they are related by any means but they were around the same time from my memory

The only date that the university has given is January 15th. There is no guarantee that it will be sooner. The only reason there is speculation is that they have released decisions before that date in the past if it was a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday. This year, the 15th is a holiday. I have an OOS Boilermaker (Fall '24 start) who received his decision on the 14th when the 15th was a Saturday. His decision came in the early evening. That isn’t a certain answer for you, but gives you an idea of what has happened in the past.

If anyone is interested in attending an admitted student visit: the main one is called “Purdue’s For Me” and the dates are already available to view.

We attended last year and I thought they did a nice job with it. You sign up based on what college you’re admitted to. The registration spots for some colleges (like engineering) fill up much faster than others.

You won’t be able to sign up until after admission. Last year, admissions decisions were released on Friday the 13th. The sign up for Purdue’s For Me wasn’t working properly until Monday the 16th.

Thanks. Do some schools only have certain/specific visit days from that list of dates or is any date available for your specific college if you register soon enough? Also, about how much of the visit day would you say is school specific programming?

I believe all dates cover all colleges. Last year they had one college-specific portion of the day, which is why there are registration caps for each college. The optional afternoon activities can be general or specific even to the major. My son’s friend (nursing) wanted to join us and was able to sign up late, well after all the engineering spots were full, but there were no spots available for her dad.

This was last year’s format:

Edited to add: just checked my apple watch and I walked 9.5 miles on campus that day. So when it comes to cramming in sessions: YMMV, literally.

Great, thanks for the additional info, I hope we get a chance to go for one of these!

At Purdue’s for Me, there are various things you can do. The session for your specific major is only part of the day. If I remember correctly, my son did a session in the department building that was a tour and small group discussion, and he also had a larger group parent and student Q & A in the PMU. Other sessions allow you to visit dorms, take a tour of campus, etc. There are specific days for Purdue’s for Me. You cannot sign up for them until you have been admitted and they release registration to them.

If you are OOS like we are, I think it is valuable to go. Not only may Purdue have different weather and a different community feel to wherever you are coming from, it is also just nice to set feet on campus if you have the ability to do so. I know not all people do, so I will give my opinion as a parent. West Lafayette and Lafayette are a nice, welcoming community. People are nice. The school is prepared and welcoming to incoming students and their families. Purdue is a very academic university and certain majors are very difficult and impacted, therefore having the best of the best students admitted to them. You do have to work very hard there. Mitch Daniels stated that you would need to do at least four hours of work for every one credit you are studying. He was not exaggerating. It is important to find interest groups and take part in them, gain friends and support in them. The facilities are nice and you should use them. The dining options are plentiful.

I do not have anything but good things to say about Purdue University.
