Purdue Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

I am disappointed to here you had a less than great experience. We have visited a number of highly ranked business schools ASDs and found Purdue’s to be one of the better ones. The earlier sessions you get to choose and they were fine and pretty “par for the course”. We interacted with A.J. in both the group session and 1:1. We found him to be dynamic, welcoming, and personable. We remarked that our kiddo felt less like a number and more of a wanted commodity at Daniels. Every one of our questions was answered by the staff and students. We liked how he didn’t spew how Purdue outranked or didn’t other schools. We frankly were tired of hearing about the reason you should go to XYZ is because its ranked XYZ. We knew those stats going in and were able to focus in on how the business school is relatively small and the opportunities afforded by that tighter knit community. At this juncture it was about finding a fit. Each school has trade-offs and advantages. To sum it up, I don’t think Purdue failed us on Purdue for Me day. They gave us the info needed to make a long-term choice. We may have not had the dean give an address, but we had a dynamic faculty member speak to us. IMO that was likely a more engaging and relatable factor for my kiddo to make a choice.

My D24 has been admitted to Purdue, and I am trying to figure out if Purdue provides the exact fees for each admitted student on the mypurdue protal or whether we should just use the calculator or website estimate. I couldn’t find any fees detail on mypurdue. Her FAFSA is stuck because she submitted her form before I could sign the parent form, so not sure if that is the reason for nothing showing up under Financial Aid. Do other people with approved FAFSA see financial aid?

Back from Purdue after a whirlwind trip and tour.

For those who are questioning, I am sorry your visit did not go as expected. Our trip was similar to what @timmsli experienced but for engineering.

We could not make a Purdue for Me date work, so we took the approach of taking multiple tours, assuming between them, we would get the desired visit. And we did. Tours included a general tour of the campus, engineering facilities, and admitted engineering students. We also managed to pack in a dorm visit. Along with the “professional tours,” we were not shy about talking to anyone, from students to cleaning teams, to get a feel for the campus.

Each of the events/tours was a coordinated effort to provide the needed information (e.g., programs, support, sources for additional Q&A, internships/coops, school spirit traditions) to digest and make an educated decision. There was minimal to zero upsell and more confidence in their programs. It was clear there was a sense of pride.

Yes, the eclipse was a coincidental addition to the visit. We were able to join students at the engineering fountain, which, as you would guess, gave us another opportunity to interact and ask more questions.

Good luck all!

Side note: I do feel for the freshman FYE who made the mistake of saying hi to us at University and Third. Once we figured out he was in FYE we had several questions - all of which he was kind enough to answer as we walked with him. Sadly I am convinced early in the discussion, he may have thought we were trailing him… :grimacing:

My D24 just accepted her FYE offer today after much deliberation! Excited for her and relieved to be off the decision train!

Has anyone seen any financial aid information yet?

S24 started the FAFSA application in January but had to wait until 13 April to finally get the corrections in after numerous attempts. Got a confirmation from Purdue Fin Aid Office on 15 April that they received the FAFSA. Hoping that we get a response prior to the 15 May deadline.

Interesting, we did it Jan 2 with no corrections, but never got a notification Purdue received it. Other schools she applied to we could see it loaded so we just have our fingers crossed it got there, it’s in the FAFSA send list.

Son emailed Fin Aid Office to confirm whether they received it. Given the state of FAFSA rollout this year, I did not want to rely on whats been shown in the FAFSA portal. Probably a bit paranoid and was not needed.

I was about to do the same thing! I feel like we can’t take anything for granted this year, but I’m sure I am just being paranoid.

Purdue extends enrollment deadline to 01 June

Wait, so this basically means no one is getting off the waitlist this month at least??

Not necessarily. People are already getting off the waitlist at other schools. While I havnt seen Purdue yet I’ve seen other schools whose deposit deadlines have not passed yet.

Anybody has been notified the final EFC on Purdue portal after considering the FAFSA info? I believe we have time till May 1 to make accept and make the housing deposit deadline of May 3

Double check with housing but I believe they pushed back the housing deadline to 5/20.

Does anyone have a hold on their financial aid called ‘Preliminary Packaging Group’ and know what it means? It appeared 2 days ago but I only saw it today.

Sure thanks so much. I have one another question. My HS is asking for details of where to send the final IB scores (whenever we get them ). Do we give the registrar contact address / email or the normal admissions office. Appreciate if somebody can advise.

A post was split to a new thread: Chance Me for Purdue

Any idea when the housing application results will be out on which dorm has been finalized for the admitted students?

Notifications are projected to go out mid July. Assignment Information | Purdue University Residences
