Purdue Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

This time 15th is a Monday, so would they release on Monday or Tuesday?
Do they consider federal holidays?

it will probably be released on the Friday before the 15th, not Monday or after. If form holds from the past several years, admits get rolled out first (3-4PMish EST). There used to be a “tell” on your portal the morning of–if you saw it, a Yes was coming later that day. don’t know if that still happens because the pages have changed. Man, i don’t miss this process. Good luck to all!!!

There is no reason why they can’t release on a holiday. No one has to physically be at the office for this to happen. Pretty sure they can just set a timer for release.

Can I ask what the “tell” is? Thanks!

There is no reason it can’t be on the holiday but historically they do it the Friday before. Same if the 15th is on the weekend. Don’t be surprised if they are out on Friday.

I don’t remember the wording exactly but the morning of the 15th one of the tabs on the portal changed/showed some options for taking an action an admitted student would take and then it reverted to the “awaiting decision” view for the rest of the day until the emails dropped. It was nuts but checked out—our student had “the tab” in the morning and got the admit that afternoon just as previous year parents had said it would.

Well info they sent out to school counselors says the 15th at 5pm, so that does seem pretty official.

Again, that is the official date and time. They have released on the Friday before when the 15th is a weekend/holiday. I don’t run Purdue Admissions but you shouldn’t be surprised if the news comes on that Friday because they’ve done that repeatedly. There is nothing magic about 5PM either. I’m guessing they say 5 because they don’t want people calling all day saying they haven’t heard yet. And they don’t want all the “what do you mean my kid’s not accepted?” phone calls. But our student got the acceptance email before 5PM.

My daughter got her acceptance well before 5pm, but I believe it was on January 15, which was midweek that year. I would assume things can change from year to year. If you’re going to stress about this notification, though, Purdue probably isn’t the school for you. It is a fantastic school, but it is not easy and necessitates a goid amount of stress management skills.

Last year, Jan 15th was a Sunday and results were released on Friday, Jan 13th for my S23. This year, Mon Jan 15th is officially a holiday as per the Purdue website. Hence it is possible that results are released on Friday, Jan 12th. S24 has applied this year and Purdue is one of his top choices.

This happens on many school portals as they update the information for release, there are sometimes seconds or minutes that some tab is present and then it is not. I know they’d like for that not to happen, but because kiddos and parents are awaiting not so patiently, sometimes someone sees the update before it is hidden for the release. Most times, that gets shared on some platform and creates panic. I wouldn’t count on it happening, though and I certainly wouldn’t stress or worry about it. It’s unnecessary.

This is such a heavy time for kiddos that’s why I don’t advise posting stats and asking chances. No one can determine admission except for those at the school determining admission. We do not know for sure the criteria and order of looking at it, we do not know how they weigh the opportunities one has had where they have come from over another’s, we do not know the numbers they are working with for each department or school, we do not know the holistic factors, we do not know what makes one kiddo the choice over another kiddo.

Hold tight. Just a few days left (for Purdue Early Action).

Hoping that there is a current parent who would know.

If you are lucky enough to get in, when and how would you apply for a living learning community like EPICS? Thank you.

You apply during the housing application process. I don’t know when the application opens, but last year the priority deadline was April 13th.

Thank you

It takes a hot minute for your “i accept your offer of admission so here’s my deposit” to then get access to the housing stuff and other related things. Biggest issue is not missing the April deadline.

Does anybody see the difference in the portal? It used to say status - complete on the dashboard. Now it is no longer there. What does everyone see?

I’m seeing that as well.

Starting to get nervous.

hmmm
looks the same for my son
does it say something in place of complete?
