Purdue Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

S24 checked portal today and has the change as well from the previous status arrow complete. He did not login for last couple of weeks so not sure when the change happened. Fingers crossed.

My student’s status arrow was there last night around 9 pm, but when we woke up this morning (around 6 am) it was gone.

Can someone post a picture of what the portal looks like after the change you are discussing? Thanks!

Same here! Son is OOS, applied for Engineering.

Your son’s status is gone? Mine also applied engineering and we are OOs

We noticed the change yesterday, but today is back to the way it appeared since application was complete. What we saw until yesterday is the large tan box that says “Application Status - complete” was gone and a a reference number was provided. Now the old large tan box is back. It may mean nothing at all.

Thank you. My sons as of last night had the large tan box that said “application status- complete” and also provided a reference number to use if you had any questions. Someone mentioned that if you are still showing the tan box it is most likely a rejection. :woman_shrugging:t2:. I guess we’ll all know shortly, thanks!

It’s hard to wait. Before the official results hit, here are a few things to consider:
Deferred DOES NOT mean declined. Purdue doesn’t use deferred as a soft denial. You are still in play! If Purdue is your first choice and you will accept the offer if admitted, tell Purdue that and/or have your high school counselor tell Purdue that.

If you are offered your second choice major, you are declined for your first choice. Depending on the major you may or may not be able to transfer in (called CODOing at Purdue) once you are enrolled. Do not think you will transfer into CS if you didn’t get in. Ditto pro flight.

If you are offered Summer Start, that’s a conditional offer—you have to start in the summer in order to accept the offer. Early Start on the other hand is an optional program to just start your first year in the summer. People with a lot of incoming credits sometimes choose Early Start so they can knock out the FYE requirements quickly and start their engineering major in the Spring semester. It’s a great way to graduate early or get a master’s degree too in 4 years.

If you are declined, know that you have plenty of company and that 70,000 kids want 10,000 spots and that math doesn’t work. If there is anything new and different that you can share with Purdue, go ahead and work with your high school to share and ask to be reconsidered. Or turn the page and get psyched for the other schools that accepted you. You are enough. This is an art, not a science, and with schools assuming all the essays are AI, it’s hard to know what tipped the scales for one kid and not another. Go be great wherever that is.

Boiler Up!

They will all change at some point as they update decisions. It could be those rejected first, could be those accepted first. There is no way to tell.

When the day comes, hopefully on the 12th, it will say 'Application Status: Decided ✓" and a “Decision Letters and Documents” will appear below. Everybody relax, you will be where you are meant to be.

As eager as everyone is, I would not try to read too much into the internet tea leaves. My daughter is currently a Purdue student. Every now and then something befuddling shows up on one portal or another. Nothing alarming, but its a big school. Sometimes they’re testing something, other times Purdue changes their mind. Last year they denied at least three valedictorians, but took students in less competitive majors off the waitlist. If you don’t get in, try again for a spring or summer start. I don’t know for sure, but - an educated guess - it probably helps if you tell them you don’t need housing as an incoming freshman. If you get in, book an accepted student visit called Purdue For Me. They roll put the red carpet, and you’ll love it. After that, let your student take the lead.

The CC Admissions Calendar shows Purdue EA as Jan 15th from 4 pm - 5 pm.

It tends to be the Friday before if the 15th is a weekend or holiday, which it is (MLK).

Even better

Hi. New here so maybe this was discussed before. Why do you think they will not do it on a holiday? Is it not just pressing a button from anywhere?

In previous years, if Jan 15th fell on a weekend , results were released on Friday. Jan 15th is officially a Purdue holiday this year (MLK), hence the possibility of results being released on Fri, Jan 12th.

Thank you so much @temporaryworker! He follows what PSP does and wrote about PSP & PSP Liquids in his “why Purdue” essay"!! Fingers crossed! We’re in the short rows now

Thank you so much @Bookishmom! As this is my third to go to college, I completely agree with your last comment. My other two got into their first choice colleges and decided that was not the route for them. One ended up changing colleges and majors after the first year, the other is flying high at their chosen school in the major they started in but picked minors I would never have imagined for them. He has gotten in U of Alabama Hunstville and UNC Charlotte, and he would thrive at either. He is also interested in nuclear engineering, so while he would be shocked, I would NOT be to hear him change majors

I am so praying you are right about his Cs
they are indeed from Dual Enrollment classes (he has been in exclusively dual enrollment since spring of sophomore yr of HS), and he is the fist kid from his HS to graduate with an Assoc in Engineering so the school considers it their most demanding curriculum (mainly get Assoc in Arts and a few get Assoc in Sci).

He will not be eligible for any need-based aid (unfortunately, lol) and Purdue OOS will actually be less than what his sister pays after all scholarships at her college, so hopefully that will not be an issue.

Thank you for all your encouraging words! Fingers crossed!! We’ll know soon.

I did not think they would release early, but with the portal changes meaning they are uploading decisions into the system at the very least, I am quite sure it will be Friday. They are getting the decisions in very early.

My personal opinion, working in the technology industry, there’s no such thing as “pressing a button”. You simply don’t have one of your biggest IT/infrastructure events of the year, with 10’s of thousands of students and parents hanging on the result, occur on a holiday for your business when staff is out of the office.

When I logged in yesterday we did not have the gold “completed” box. Not having logged in previously I can only assume it was there before. Today I am seeing a tab at the top that says “admitted students” which I don’t think was there yesterday. Can anyone else confirm? If I click into it it says, accept offer, student housing, and visit opportunities. My daughter is a sophomore there currently and this page is what we saw when we went through her acceptance process
