Hello guys!
I have applied for data science and CS as my major choice and wanted to know if there is any chance that if I don’t get my primary major choice, I will get offer for FYI??
I am not sure if it is even possible to offer FYI as I have not applied for any engineering major.
Is there anything else I could receive(other than rejection) if I don’t get my major choice?
@Theunknown28 - Did you indicate a second major on your application?
https://www.admissions.purdue.edu/counselors/newsletter-know.php:
“Students Must Opt In or Out for Second Choice Major: In the last application cycle, students could simply put down a second choice major if they wanted. This year students must opt in or out of choosing a second choice. If the student does choose to have a second choice major, they will be asked to answer the “Why Major” short answer question again. Students can explore our majors alphabetically, by Purdue college or by career interest at www.purdue.edu/majors.”
If you didn’t indicate a secondary major, there may still be time to add one. Contact admission and ask. You could ask if you could indicate CSEE (in the college of engineering) as your secondary.
I see it too. When I clicked on it, it took me to another page that said,
“ACCEPT YOUR ADMISSION OFFER
Welcome to Purdue University! To accept an offer of admission, you must activate your online student career account. After activating your account, you will gain access to your myPurdue online portal, through which you can accept your offer of admission. You may be prompted to setup a Boilerkey (two-factor authentication), but you have 7 months to set this up to login to systems such as myPurdue.”
When I clicked on “activate your online student career account” it took me to another page that says,
“Welcome to Purdue University!”
Hoping this is a good sign!?!?!?!
I guess we will find out in less than 2 weeks (1/15/20), but my son said he just did not notice that particular link before in the orange bar.
Do all ppl on the thread see the same link? If it is the same for all, it might mean nothing… if only some ppl see it, then it may man something else.
We can’t see the orange bar on a mobile device, but can on a laptop. It’s always been there for us. The accept your offer link is the same whether signed in or not, so I don’t think it means anything. Boo!
I have no basis to determine your chances since admission decisions everywhere are “holistic”, but the stats look strong. My son also has a few remaining. Deferred at Michigan, waiting for Purdue and Ga Tech as well. Already accepted Penn State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kansas State. Nuclear Engineering. Best of luck to you.
Anyone have any experience/knowledge on Purdue Honors college admissions? Do they notify with admissions notice? Also, how do they notify of merit aid? Obviously hoping to get into honors college w/ some aid, as I’m sure everyone is! But, just not sure of the process!!
@kisauren I saw the same thing, but that “Welcome to Purdue” message on that page is a generic message that’s available even without logging into your portal… In other words-- it is not tied to an admissions decision at this point!
@droppinknowledge - When my D applied two cycles ago, she was notified of honors college admission in early February. I’m thinking it was 2 or 3 weeks after the EA notification. I’m less clear about merit notifications because she didn’t get any, but if I recall from our parents group, it was in February.
hi I am a senior
applied to Purdue Engineering Early action
Aerospace engineering major
GPA - Unweighted: 3.604, weighted: 3.76
SAT composite - 1470 (800 math and 670 reading/writing)
Am I a competitive candidate for Purdue Engineering for Class of 2024?
9 more days to go!
Getting excited to hear more about Purdue!
Is there a separate application for the honors college?
@aewlmom - There was a separate application to Honors (at least when my D applied 2 cycles ago) with additional essays. Deadline coincided with EA.
Not a separate application, however there are additional essays for the honor college.
Anyone else got their decision for Purdue Early Action? A friend of mine texted me that her daughter got an email this morning and she got her decision (admitted). My son is still sleeping (he graduated in December so no school today for him) and I don’t have the password to check. Wondering if other people got their decision today, although they were supposed to be released on January 15.
Nothing here…
Didn’t get anything!
Weird that she got it so early…she’s a hispanic female, maybe it matters…
