Purdue University: Class of 2024 Discussion/Decision Thread

@amogh97 RD’s come out rolling each Friday @5pm until the end of March.

@anxiousdad2020 Congrats! I’ve gone one of the verge of committing to Polytech, as well.

If I am rejected ( or not admitted to my major) from Purdue, can I appeal my decision and also change my major in that, like from a more competitive major to a less competitive major.

@programmer13

Purdue does consider appeals if there is new information to consider:

"Appeals

Applicants who are denied admission may submit a written appeal to the Office of Admissions. No third-party appeals will be considered. The appeal must include new and compelling information.
The full Admissions Committee will consider and make the final decision on written appeals."

I was under the impression that students were already able to put an alternative major on their application?

@momofsenior1 Yeah there was an option for applying for an alternative major, but as I was running late in submitting my application for regular decision round I didn’t apply for an alternate major. But now I am looking to apply into polytechnic institute, is it possible to do so, that their decision will be reversed if I ask the admission department to consider me for my alternate major?

Is that true? My son didn’t do EA here and we are waiting for RD for CS major. I hope they have some spots left. I found out that 2 students from GA who have GT CS are still holding Purdue. I hope my son get one of that spot.

@tenseMom

NOVEMBER 1: Early Action Application Deadline.

Priority application deadline for computer science, nursing, professional flight technology (Priority means we will continue accepting applications after this date only if space allows — if applying for one of these programs after November 1, check the closed programs page first.)

My D just declined her engineering offer. Hope someone who really wants it get it.

A quick question. When I saw my financial aid award letter I found out that I was awarded the General Alumni Scholarship for $7500. It shows the total expenses for the year 2020-2021. Is the scholarship renewable across all four years of study or only for the year 2020-2021?

@programmer13 I was rejected EA for engineering without a second major option. Purdue was my first choice school and dream school, so I filed an appeal form and change of major form to get considered as a mathematics major as i figured math is significantly easier to get into, especially with my stats (32 ACT 3.7 UW GPA). I was alerted March 6th that they couldn’t consider my request. In theory you can request to be considered for a different major but at this point almost all the spaces are probably filled for most majors.

I still have not received a decision from Purdue. Applied Engineering in late December.

They were out on 16th

@computergeeks - RD decisions are rolling. Keep checking your portal between now and the end of the month, especially on Friday afternoons. Good luck!

Boiler Up! My son got admitted today - EA Polytechnic Aviation/Airline Management non-flight.

hey congrats! I still haven’t received a decision :frowning: . Should I just assume that I was rejected at this point. I feel like everyone has gotten an answer but me.

have all decision come out? i applied in january and have yet to receive my decision… should i assume a certain outcome or not?

@formalbank @computergeeks All admissions results are supposed to be posted by 3/31. Since they usually notify on Fridays, I assume they still have one round left at the end of this week. Good luck!

@Momofmanytoo thank you for the response! that’s what I had figured, but I wasn’t sure if it was a sign one way or not on decision. hopefully I hear good things on friday!

Anybody got accepted after being waitlisted for mechanical engineering?

@lakmak I’m also waitlisted for mechanical engineering. Anyone know anything about Purdue’s engineering waitlist or the waitlist in general?

Have all Honors decisions come out yet, or are they still going until 3/31?
