Purdue University: Class of 2024 Discussion/Decision Thread

@rjjjj33944 I encourage you (and others) to search for the Common Data Set for schools you are applying to or interested in. I’ve included the link to the Purdue dataset at the end of this post. There is a wealth of admissions data. For last year’s class, 5755 were offered a waitlist spot, 3378 accepted a spot, 1542 were ultimately admitted. This is overall university data and not specific to the CoE. I didn’t dig around to see if you could filter the results.

My kids decided to decline Purdue’s offers along with a Trustee Scholarship. Good luck to you all in the engineering wait-list … hopefully this will provide 2 spots.

Our D also decided to decline Purdue’s offer for engineering and has chosen Virginia Tech. Very close run choice and not much in it. Her final choice came down to quality of life aspects with the location, dorms, food, student life - VT just seemed more her place.
Best of luck to everyone and Purdue is absolutely a great college choice

Third engineering spot open. My son decided on Wisconsin.

I’m turning down my offer as well and going with Georgia Tech

When would waitlisted candidates generally hear back?

am so anxious reg waitlist decisions. anyone has any idea when do waitlisted Heer back?

are chances of acceptance from the waitlist for international students low?

When do waitlisted people hear back

Can the people who arent going to purdue decline their choice so the waitlisted people get a chance

FYI-- Current students and staff got this email today.

If Purdue only offers online courses for summer (and possibly fall), do they still charge the same tuition? I know that at least one of the universities that we visited charges in state tuition for online courses.

@anxiousdad2020 As far as I know, Purdue has not changed their online course fee schedules and there is a higher rate for OOS students. This came up last week on our Purdue parent group.

Has purdue sent waitlist decisions to anyone? Please inform. It would be great help.

@d33psan
My son also received the Alumni General Scholarship. Did you find out whether it is renewable for four years?

My son received it too. I was told it is offered to some OOS students and isn’t renewable. They told me, if financial info stays the same each year, then he may receive it again.

They said it was a need-based scholarship. So if the financial info stays the same we’ll probably get it. How much did you receive in that?

It is $7,500. My son would like to go to Purdue, but we are OOS. We are very grateful that this funding is provided to him, but it is difficult to make a commitment not knowing that, if all things stay the same, the scholarship will be available to him each year.

We got the same too. Purdue is our top choice but being OOS just makes it really hard to pay 30k each year for 4 years.

Quick Question:
I am admitted into Purdue for the class of 2024 and applied for learning communities by the priority deadline of April 15th along with a housing contract for priority. I have yet to receive an email regarding possible placement into any of the communities I applied for. I have seen conflicting notification dates such as April 23rd, April 27th and one in Mid-May, so I was just wondering if anyone has received an email or any information on their own placement as of yet.
