Questbridge College Prep Scholar 2016 Applicant Thread

@cler1010 Well QB CPS program is, in my opinion, a prestige program. Just being identified as a CPS is a great distinction in your applications for college, as QB is partnered with many elite colleges and these colleges know QB Scholars for being high-achieving students. If you’re a CPS, you can reapply, in your senior year, for the NCM where you have a great chance to become a finalist. Plus, the rewards provided are awesome for the CPS  Overall, I’d say you use this a notary distinction in your application and you make use of all the awards you got that will prepare you for the real college apps!

Can’t believe i got in. What does this lead to now?

Hey guys! Congrats to everyone that got in! If you’re going to the Yale conference in June, see you there! (: (I hope we all get accepted into the summer programs!)

Also, does anyone know how many people applied and how many got accepted?

Congrats! I got in too! I wish I could go to the conference but I was accepted into Cornell’s Summer College and there will be a schedule conflict :(.

As for the Summer Colleges, I contacted QuestBridge about it, and apparently it’s VERY selective. I would guess to acceptance rate is like 5-9%.

Congratulations on everyone who got in!! I got in too but I was wandering how can you tell if you received a travel grant or not

Yea i heard the summer programs are very selective as well. From another post, it said only about .66% of cps applicants get it as it’s an all expensive free trip so congrats to everyone who got in that. As for me I got into the Northwestern conference

@lirbykco99 If you’re asking how many applied and how many got in as College Prep Scholars in general, I believe 9,211 applied and 3,404 were accepted!

@Run2017 Whoa, where did you get those stats? Haha
@Cpool101 In the acceptance letter, it states the awards and if it doesn’t have “travel grant” then I guess they didn’t provide you with any.
@EhtEhtEht Now there goes my hope. Diminished already hahah.

I still have an inkling of hope for the summer program but not much because I didn’t get invited to a National Admissions Conference. I did get waitlisted though, but should I sign up to be on the waitlist? Because I live outside the US and plane tickets cost more. Plus, it’s only a day! So I don’t think it’d be worth it. That’s what my parents’ think as well.

Congrats again everyone! @EhtEhtEht Congrats on getting accepted to Cornell’s Summer College - that’s amazing!
What conference were you invited to attend?

@lovinglife01 What awards did you get?

@Menduch The stats were posted on the Questbridge Twitter page alongside a congratulation to those who got in!

wow i feel so lame i didn’t get invited to any summer programs just the northwestern one :frowning:

@Run2017 Ooh, I see  thanks. Congrats to you btw!
@g.bby I feel so discouraged hahah. But I’m eternally grateful for being accepted. Are you talking about the Northwestern conference? I don’t remember there being a Northwestern summer program in the list.

Hey guys, congratulations on everyone who got in.

I got essay coaching, summer program at Notre Dame, invitation to the Yale Conference (is there a travel grant for this one? I don’t have a car and I’d rather not shell out money for Amtrak), and nomination to summer programs.

Also, for @WouldYouAcceptMe Quest For Excellence awards are given out sometime in July, so quite a wait. Also, summer program nominations are given out in May for those nominated.

@wispanic I think it will say next to the line about the invitation to their National College Admissions Conference whether or not you got a travel grant.

Anyone know the difference between the Yale and Northwestern Conferences?

@maleroo

Thank you! I think the difference between Yale and Northwestern is simply location, but I’m not sure.

@menduch I read somewhere online that if you cant attend the conference they will send you a power point with all the information that they discussed. based on what you said it doesn’t seem worth it to attend

@okruth based on what I said?

Do you guys know if everyone who got a travel grant, it was: $400? Do you also know how rare it is to get the grant (like chances and %)

Congrats to everyone who got in! I was so nervous to open the decisions.
I was invited to the Northwestern Conference, which means I would have to leave Michigan Girls State at MSU the night before and drive four hours to Evanston, IL
