Questbridge Scholarship - 2008

Eep, I’m having bad TASP flashbacks. I applied but didn’t make it to the interview stage - after that, I just unsubscribed from the thread. But this is different though - after we made finalist, we’re all pretty much in good shape because we stand a pretty decent chance of getting accepted - simply later.

I was thinking (because I’m slightly obsessing by now) that we might have an advantage being evaluated so early. By this time colleges haven’t made up their applicant pool significantly to say, oh, we don’t have enough musicians, or top volleyball players, versus people with equal stats who are chosen over another simply because of a similar minor quality. Just throwing that around - at least it’s somewhat encouraging, and hopefully not misleading.

Um. So yeah. 45 hours until Friday, 5 PM PST.

sorry to be a little off topic, but are any of you guys doing Rice regular?

S is if it isn’t QB early!

Is Questbridge going to email us or are we going to get an acceptance letter from the school?

Email and/or call us is what I’ve been hearing from past participants.

so we cant like check somewhere?

I don’t think so. They are the ones that email us and then call us.

My brother got a Yale interview. He applied regular decision. Based on the fact that they want to interview during winter break leads me to assume that he didn’t get matched with Yale but that they would like to consider his application for RD. Safe assumption?

Not neccessarily bigsis. All QB application’s say RD, and I truly don’t think him not having one yet has any bearing on it. My D’s interviewer got her information right after finalist’s were announced, and he said they just receive a name, e-mail and/or phone #, and RD or SCEA. He did see her within a week after she explained Questbridge to him, but I’m fairly confident that Yale doesn’t go through the apps quickly, and say “get an interview right away for applicants x,y and z.”

Yep my Yale was all complete one day and like a week later said I was missing a rec. Hopefully its a computer glitch.

A student from my school was matched. He said he received a call last night, informing him that he had been chosen. Considering that I was the only other student in the school that applied, and hadn’t received a phonecall, I can only assume that I didn’t make it.

That’s disheartening news…anyone else get a phonecall?

I remember when I started applying for Quest College Prep and a friend of my sisters did the QB Match and said its really really difficult to be matched … don’t give up hope there is always RD which usually has better results.

Did Questbridge or the partner school call him, and may I ask which school matched him? Do you know anything about his stats, ec’s, etc?

Edit: D just called QB and they said nobody had been notified of match yet, either by phone call or e-mail. Only will time will tell…Good luck all!

Thanks for checking on that GA2012MOM and good luck to your D too!!! I hope at least one person from GA gets matched!!!

D says there were three last year, Marietta, Lawrenceville and Douglasville.

Its good to know that, thanks for checking up on that GAMom.

The year before someone from my high school got matched to Harvard when they were participating but she was first generation, National Merit finalist, URM (Asian) but no sports or remarkable out of school ECs that I remember. I’m none of the above ( :

So was up with mucywaters, I mean if QB said no one got notified, how credible is mucywaters story?

Well now over on Facebook on the QB group someone DID get called so…
GA2012MOM if your daughter has a facebook acct have her go over to the group. So it’s probably true that some are getting calls ) :
