Questbridge Scholarship - 2008

Nope I didn’t get any info from any college at all except for Yale.

Oh wasn’t I clear Celita? The process of applying and interviewing… I was referencing the sentences that I wrote before - learned from that. Also the process gave me confidence … my essays were good enough to get through the first round of a program like TASP so I applied to other scholarship programs. But the more I read the TASP thread and some other stuff (I’m not going to disclose here) I learned I really didn’t want to spend my summer …well lets just leave it at that.

Did you apply to TASP? It’s really not about your SAT scores and that’s what initially appealed to me, also no teacher recs or official transcripts kind of stuff, and I loved writing the essays.

Oh I also got an email from Scripps but when I lived in Lake Arrowhead and we use to have to drive to LA for auditions we would pass by that area and ewh it was gross - unless its much different than 8 or 9 years ago.

Is questbridge specifically for low income families?

Yes, generally, the income cutoff is $60,000/yr.

Even that is not an absolute cut off. If your family of six, lived in Manhattan, and had medical hardships more than 60k might not disqualify you.

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAA BOI!!!

I thought we needed some good spirits.

it seems like most of the liberal arts colleges for QB regular only requires:
Transcript
Offical SAT scores
Mid-year

right? haha I have to give my counselor the forms soon

lol, thanks I guess I needed that. But gosh my internet is so slow today…

For regular decision QB Wheaton and Notre Dame, it says on the website that I can use the QB app in lieu of their application without any supplements. Does that mean we do not need additional teacher recs since these are already in QB apps?

Yes, Spooned, you are correct. I’m not sure about Wheaton College, but for Univ. of Notre Dame, you don’t have to resend all your stuffs that are already included in the QuestBridge application (transcript, recommendation letters, test scores, etc). This is what the email I’ve received from Notre Dame stated. =) Good luck to everyone!

I given up on Questbridge ever responding to my email to forward my app to N Dame. Has anyone heard from them (if you emailed) since 11/30?

same here, grtskt89
So I’m going to call them today.

Has any of you guys called Stanford, Columbia, Amherst, or Williams to ask them if we have to resend our transcripts, CSS profile, scores, recommendation letters, application, etc again even if we have already sent them for the National College Match? Please give me some responses =)

These are the ones I know about - Columbia and Williams no resubmit if they already have the Questbridge from Match. I think someone said that Stanford you didn’t need to resubmit if it was already done for match but check to make sure. No clue with Amherst.

Stanford you dont’ need to resubmit anything, it will be automatically reconsidered for RD

AMherst, you just have to turn in a supplement, transcript, and SAT scores

does anyone do anything about swarthmore or vassar’s requirements?

I got mail from Rice and Swarthmore, but im not applying there.

what did the swarthmore email say?

Dear XXXX,

Congratulations on being named a QuestBridge Finalist! We have been busily reading QuestBridge applications since last month and are thoroughly enjoying learning more about you and your peers. As we read about your collective dreams, ambitions and goals we wanted to share with you how Swatties are realizing theirs (see below links). We hope you are as inspired as we are after reading these stories about how Swatties are striving to make change in the world.

On another note, we wanted you to know that you should contact either or both of us if you have any questions about Swarthmore or the application process. We would be happy to hear from you and try to help you navigate what we know to be a complicated college search process.

Warm regards,

Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

and

Suzi Nam

Director of Admissions

oh but it doesn’t tell you what forms you need to submit ugh :(

lol, nope it didn’t tell me anything, and i didn’t bother replying because I don’t want to go to an LAC.

Guys do you guys know anything about Harvard Interviews? I sent my application after I didnt get in Questbridge universities, and now I got contacted for an interview… There weren’t that many threads with harvard interviews, compared to say Princeton or Yale
