Questbridge Scholarship - 2008

To anyone who’s wondering calling QuestBridge, Columbia, williams, amherst, etc.

I called yesterday before school (i live in west, so that’s the only time the offices are open)

but the admission office people were not sure about QuestBridge applicants, the people in charge of QB apps were not in the office (all of them, very weird). the only definite answer i got was from QuestBridge, saying that they are now processing those requests, so if you don’t get a reply by the end of next week, you should call them, for now, just wait.

Okay, so if you’re applying RD to the QB partner schools and using the QB fee waiver, are you grouped into a QB applicant pool? Or are you considered the same way as everyone else applying RD?

Because I don’t want to apply using QB if it’ll hurt my chances. I probably wouldn’t have applied to Stanford using QB for the match process if I knew so little would get accepted from QB compared to the Early Action pool.

So, does applying to QB schools with the QB application or fee waiver for RD give you an advantage or disadvantage compared to applying RD like everyone else who wasn’t a QB finalist/applicant?

I just love how they don’t rsvp their emails anymore. Has anyone heard from them since 11/30?

I heard from them on Dec 5th.

I added schools just last week

I don’t think I want to send anything to any other schools than the ones I originally applied to. Hopefully Luck is still with me.

Agree! I was looking at the supplements of some new schools I just added for RD, another essay! another essay!! and SOME MORE essays!!!
Now, school and homework seem lovely compared to the freaking college thing

And I got a reply from Amherst, if anyone needs the info, they want:

One guidance counselor recommendation (if NOT already a part of your QuestBridge application)
Official high school transcript
Two academic teacher recommendations (if NOT already a part of your QuestBridge application)
Download and complete our Supplement to the Common Application found at: http://www.amherst.edu/admission/2008_applications/FirstYearSupp2012.pdf</a>
Mail the Supplement and any other credentials to the Admission Office. Please do not complete the supplement through the Common Application online.
Please indicate QUESTBRIDGE on the top of all supplements and recommendations

If you have not already done so, you must also arrange to have your SAT, SAT II and/or ACT score(s) sent to Amherst

there

hotchoco, those requirements are for those who haven’t ranked
Amherst during the match process, right? I believe, for those who have ranked Amherst and have sent in all the requirements already, they don’t need to resubmit anything except the supplement.

I rec’d a reply to my question about what FDM did and about adding schools:

Your understanding of the process in your second paragraph is correct. You could NOT apply ED or EA to any partner schools or other schools and participate in the National College Match. This is clearly stated in our FAQ: [National College Match Program: FAQ](http://questbridge.org/students/faqs.html#s3q6). After Match status was announced, you could apply early to a school that still offers it - having December or January deadlines for ED or EA. After finalist status was announced, you only needed to submit the required materials ([College Match Program: Requirements](http://questbridge.org/cmp/college_requirements.html)) to the schools you ranked. You only need to meet the regular decision deadlines ([QuestBridge National College Match - Regular Decision Table](QuestBridge)) for the colleges you requested your application be forwarded to for regular decision.

To further clarify, ranking schools through QuestBridge was equivalent to applying to a school early. If you did not rank a school, they were never considered for the Match and therefore not an early application to that school.

We did forward all applications to the schools you ranked and requested that we forward your application to for regular decision. This was all done at the end of October. We only forwarded your application to the schools you indicated on your application…

So the only school I ranked was stanford, and even during the match process, I requested to see my application status twice and all I got was “we’re too busy to sort everything out right now” or something along those lines. And then I found out I wasn’t matched.

So I’m not even sure my application was even processed. Is there a way to make sure that when my application is forwarded for the regular decision round, I know that they have all the parts of my application?

just ask them to forward more schools. I added a few more schools for RD that I didn’t plan on doing

btw did you guys all get a email from Williams with the NEW requirements for RD? I love how Williams sent one email with instructions and then changed its mind AFTER I turned everything in.

yeah I’m still waiting for all the ones that attacked me on this thread including the adult who got me a warning to apologize for being SO WRONG!!!

I was told that they wouldn’t forward extra schools until the end of December if they weren’t on your RD list.

that’s what they told me too, but pomona already got it…soooooo idk ;)

Yuo wanna know what I hate? I have to redo all my UChicago essays and stuff…grrrr. Chicago Essays are my demise

haha ya sheed30, THAT is why I am not doing chicago RD ;)

I really want to go to Chicago so i’m thinking a BS essay is better than not applying at all.

Does anyone know if you have to resend your recs and secondary school report to Chicago for RD if you ranked them?

Yes, you have to…

hey, guys

I have a question…I just got an email for Emory saying that I need to resubmit transcripts, test scores, etc… even if I’m using QuestBridge app in lieu of the regular application.

I thought transcripts, recommendations, test scores, etc. are already included in the QuestBridge app, thus, no need of resending them…

If they’re not included…oh my gosh!.. I’ll kill my recommenders even if they could just write one and copy it over and over for all colleges…
