Every school has different requirements and some don’t match with what QB says on the RD page. If Emory emailed you then they need everything they listed in the email.

Yep, so i just a QB Email, since I’ve been posting a lot of my QB stuff I don’t see why I should stop now :D

Dear XXXX,

Each year, many of the QuestBridge finalists who do not receive National College Match awards are accepted via regular admission to our partner colleges. Last year, more than 500 finalists who did not match were granted admission to our partner schools with generous financial aid packages.

We would like to encourage you again to apply regular decision to those of our partner colleges that you are interested in attending. Many of our partners will accept the QuestBridge application in place of their standard application for the regular decision process. However, even if your QuestBridge application has already been forwarded to the colleges that interest you, you may need to submit additional materials or contact the colleges’ admissions offices directly before they will consider you for admission. To ensure that your application will be considered by QuestBridge partner colleges for regular admission, you should carefully review and follow the instructions on our Regular Decision Process webpage, located here:

[QuestBridge National College Match - Regular Decision Table](http://questbridge.org/students/post_match.html)

Benefits of applying to QuestBridge partner colleges through the Regular Decision process include:

* Option to use the QuestBridge application as a regular decision application at many QuestBridge partner colleges.
- Automatic application fee waviers for finalists.
- Generous financial aid packages.
- Non-binding admissions decisions.

Also, keep the following suggestions in mind as you conclude the application process:

Thank Your Recommenders

Be sure to write a thank you letter to your teachers and counselor once all your recommendations and other materials have been submitted. Thank you letters are considered good form, and you may need additional recommendations or references in the future for summer jobs or other scholarship applications. Even if you won’t need another recommendation from your teachers, you should let them know that you appreciate the time that they spent helping you.

Avoid Senioritis

It is very important to maintain your academics throughout your senior year - which means you should continue taking challenging courses and earning good grades. College acceptances are often contingent upon your continued academic success senior year, and you will be required to provide colleges with all of your senior year grades. Taking a lighter course load or letting your GPA drop significantly might cause a college to decide to revoke your offer of admission.

Remember the FAFSA Dates

Forms for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will become available on January 1, 2008, both online and in your counselor’s office. Every QuestBridge partner college will require you to submit the FAFSA in order to qualify for financial aid, so you should begin filling out the necessary forms as soon as possible.

We wish you the best of luck in the regular decision process. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Kind regards,

The QuestBridge Team

I know I asked this already, but I haven’t gotten a response.

Are your chances the same as everyone else applying RD if you apply using QB? Or is it like in the match process where you’re at a disadvantage and the EA/ED kids have an edge over you since only less than 2% if all QB applicants are matched to the specific school they applied to? I don’t know if that makes sense…but basically, I know that I should have probably applied EA to Stanford rather than through QB…So, is applying RD to Stanford using QB going to make me feel disadvantaged? Will it give me less of a chance than the kids applying RD normally? Or is it all the same?

It is either the exact same chance or you get a little bump. There is definitely no disadvantage for regular decision as there was for the match.

Oh god that’s SUCH good news… lol

yah, i agree with Sheed

For example, i got a letter from harvard few days ago saying that they increased the amount of financial aid blahblah and that don’t hesitate to apply for financial aid. They even added "Applying for financial aid does not jeopardize a student’s chance for admission. In fact, the Admissions Committee may respond favorably to evidence that a candidate has overcome significant obstacles, financial or otherwise. " I guess this shows that being a QuestBridge finalist would help us through the admission process. So cheer up and good lucks to all ~=)

Did anyone who opted out of the National Match that was a finalist, get into their ear;y action school?

I received a rejection letter from Notre Dame. They didn’t even wait for RD. I am sooooo bummed. I have a feeling I’m not getting in anywhere.

You’ll definitely end up somewhere. Don’t sweat it. I’m sure everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.

for the questbridge scholarship, I submitted the commonapp and supplement.
Now the RD time has come and I want to change my essays. Does anybody know how I can change my commonapp stuff?

I think you would have to create a new common app account, but I’m not sure of the repercussions or complications. I think that’s the only way, however, as the app locks up after submitting–which is not too unreasonable.

Isn’t there a way to update the Common Application materials, which was not available at the beginning of this school year but was added by popular demand?

Directions on how to create an another version of your Common Application can be found here: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Docs/AlternateVersionTechnologyFAQ.pdf
Any information you typed directly into the CA will be transferred to your new application version, but can be changed. No information you uploaded will be transferred.

token, I emailed th schools specifically. some wanted a written request, some just wanted a email

I dont think that you can send in another version of the Common Apps to a school that you already sent one. The alternate version is used when you want to have different copies so that you can send it to different schools, like if you want to use one essay for Uchicago, but you want to try another essay for like Stanford. I am not sure, but it wouldnt make sense for an admissions officer in one school to read 10 different essays from one person because they updated it. They expect what you turn in is your best.

To those also applying to Williams,

hey, guys, do we have to use the Williams supplement linked on the QB website or can we just use the common app. supplment instead?
I’ve emailed Williams College, but I think he/she won’t respond very quickly…

Didn’t Williams change their requirements like two weeks into December when many people already sent in their supplement by mail???

now, i think they want the supplement to be submitted online
i need to check that e-mail to tell you the specific…i’m waiting for the break to start then to worry about colleges…

Thanks hotchoco!=]
Actually, Williams responded really quickly regarding this question.

hotchoco, williams take paper app too. I turned in everything right away after the first email, and then I just mailed them another copy of the common app pages 1-4.

Hey did anyone else get an e-mail from Amherst saying that QB finalists didn’t have to pay to apply? I’m crunched for time and lost the e-mail - if someone has it and could copy/paste, it’d be severely appreciated.
