Dear QuestBridge Applicant:

We have received your request to use your QuestBridge application for REGULAR DECISION and would like to thank you for your continued interest in Amherst!

The application deadline for Regular Decision is January 1, 2008.

As a regular decision candidate, your QuestBridge application will serve as your application to this institution. It is not necessary for you to file the Common Application or any other application directly to Amherst. Also your application fee will be waived.

If you have not already provided us with the following information, we will need it in order to complete your profile. The following must be mailed directly to the Amherst Admission Office:

* One guidance counselor recommendation (if NOT already a part of your QuestBridge application)

 • Official high school transcript
 • Two academic teacher recommendations (if NOT already a part of your QuestBridge application)
 • Download and complete our Supplement to the Common Application found at: http://www.amherst.edu/admission/2008_applications/FirstYearSupp2012.pdf
 • Mail the Supplement and any other credentials to the Admission Office. Please do not complete the supplement through the Common Application unless you chose to use the entire Common Application
 • Please indicate QUESTBRIDGE on the top of all supplements and recommendations

If you have not already done so, you must also arrange to have your SAT, SAT II and/or ACT score(s) sent to Amherst.

Lastly, you will need to complete your financial aid profile. All of the necessary forms are available online at [Amherst College Financial Aid Forms](http://www.amherst.edu/~finaid/forms/). Make sure the FAFSA and the CSS Profile are completed, in addition to financial aid forms specific to Amherst. Any financial aid information should be MAILED directly to the Financial Aid Office or completed online. Follow the Regular decision deadlines found on our website at: [Amherst College > Admission > Calendars and Deadlines](http://www.amherst.edu/admission/important_info/calendars_deadlines.html).

Once we have processed your application, you will receive an email confirmation informing you that we have received your application and that your fee has been waived. Five to ten days later you will receive a second email containing information on how to obtain a username and PIN number to allow you to view the materials we have received and any missing materials. If you have NOT received any correspondence regarding receipt of your application by mid January, please contact us.

If you have any questions or are not interested in receiving correspondence from Amherst College, please contact Demisha Lee, Associate Dean of Admission at dwlee@amherst.edu.

We look forward to reading your application.

Sincerely,

Associate Dean of Admission

QuestBridge Coordinator

Thanks so much, knguyen - that helps me out tremendously.

hey are you guys doing outside scholarships?

I wanted to do Gates, but I am but eligible :frowning: do you guys know of any other big ones?

I feel like I should have withdrawed and applied early admission to Chicago or Stanford. anyone else wish they did the same?

no prob, aeschina.

Sheed30, i think doing Questbridge + deferred to RD has better chances than EA alone. Also, Stanford has SCEA so you can probably only do that one. I’m burning pretty badly from the rejections too, but at least we have RD.

Did anyone get any info on whether Stanford has received your app + recs? I didn’t get any email confirmation nor could I use axess. It just said that the information is currently unavailable. They should really tell us so we know if we are missing something.

Sheed30, if everything is turned in, why don’t you just let it sit there and give it a shot? that’s how I feel about the PYS

Hey, can we forward our QB app if we’ve already been matched (nonbinding)? Do we just send an email to the partner schools or…?

Nvm, answered my own ?

Has anyone been sent any confirmation material from Stanford?

This is the email my son got from Stanford:

December 18, 2007

Dear QuestBridge Finalist,

Greetings from Stanford University! We would like to congratulate you on
being named a QuestBridge Finalist. Though you were not matched with a
partner college through the QuestBridge National College Match Program, your
candidacy will be evaluated during our Regular Decision process if you file
or have filed a complete Stanford Regular Decision application. If you
submitted your Regular Decision Stanford application by November 2nd with
all supporting documents, or if you will submit a Stanford application and
all supporting documents by January 1, 2008, then your application will be
reviewed by our office. You will receive an e-mail in late January
explaining how you can check the status of your application, and receipt of
all supporting materials.

Stanford uses the Common Application found at www.commonapp.org. All
QuestBridge Finalists are entitled to an application fee waiver. Under the
payment section on the Stanford University page of the Common Application
website, please select “Other Fee Waiver.” QuestBridge will verify the
names of all Finalists directly with Stanford. Your QuestBridge application
will be used as a supplement to your Stanford Regular Decision application.

While we cannot anticipate the outcome of your admission application, we do
hope you will consider Stanford as you continue your thorough and thoughtful
college search. If you have any questions regarding Stanford or the
application process, please feel free to contact us at
questbridgeinfo@stanford.edu. We wish you the best of luck throughout the
remainder of your senior year.

Best wishes,
DeAngela Burns-Wallace

I got that same email.

I got the same email as well.

I wasn’t matched with Stanford, but it’s my dream school, so I was wondering if I should send in any additional information. I know they don’t want resumes, but since we did Questbridge back in November, would there be a way of letting the offices know I’m really interested in the school still? Anyone send in anything to Stanford since hearing back about not matching?

I’m so bad about procrastinating…I lost so much time being sick. :(

huh, I didn’t get any email from Stanford. And I ranked it for the match.

Maybe you should check to make sure that you have the application in and make sure t’s in.

are you guys writing new essays or using your same QB essays?

I used the same essays as my QB ones. But i do have to write all new essays for Chicago…that makes me maddddddddddd.

I emailed QB a while ago to forward my apps to five schools, but I never got a response. I emailed them again yesterday, and they said they’re not responding to emails until the 2nd. Am I supposed to assume that they forwarded my applications even though they didn’t reply back to my original email?

I hope that’s what it means.

Hey guys how does the Fee Waiver work with the questbridge schools. Does Quest need to give us some kind of letter or do we need to print off a voucher and then write a letter explaining that we are a quest finalist. Or what? Man I’m so confused?

I think for the LACs you just send in your application and put Questbridge Finalist or w/e on it and they know what you mean. Online applications you just pick “approved fee waiver”

btw are any of you guys doing vassar?

i think you just do “other” for fee waiver and then you’re good.

W/e I am doing Pomona ED II. I need to go to Cali even if its not Stanford.
