Got in at Amherst and Emory!
Thanks QB

I was accepted to Stanford after being a finalist but not being matched through Questbridge!!! I’m still waiting to hear from my last four schools (Brown, Cornell, Tufts and Pomona), but I was accepted at my state school, Claremont, Stanford, Wesleyan and Georgetown, and rejected from Swarthmore.
I’m not sure whether QB directly helped my chances, but it definitely didn’t hurt. I think that simply having to write all those extra essays, while a pain to do, were helpful to me in the long run. Also, the QB fee waivers were so helpful…I am very grateful for all the help QB gave.
CONGRATS to everyone and good luck for those waiting!

congrats electricalstorm, glad to hear that

hey I’m a junior looking into QB National Match program. Any advice from this year’s QB’s applicants? The “binding” part seems rather intimindating, as i’m not sure where i want to go yet. Even if i apply RD through QB, would it be possible to get really good finanical aid??

well congrats to you all but QB definatly screwed me over
I am:

8/9 at non QB schools (Harvard is the reject)

and haha a lovely 0/10 at QB schools

hmm so athenegoddess, I would think about it before applying for QB, do you REALLY need the fee wavier/ stuff??? otherwise common app should do just fine for you

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!
I got into Harvard and Wharton School of Penn!!!
However, I think QB worked against me since I was wailisted at all QB top-tier colleges (Princeton, Stanford, Columbia).
Congrats to all of your achievements, fellow QB-ers. :)

Harvardprincess: Oh my freakin gosh!!! I’m so excited for you. Congrats! I know you deserve it! :)

congrats to you too harvardprincess!!! I got into harvard and into Stanford also. However, if there’s a good advice for future QB’s, that would be to forgo the college match program and just send your applications to colleges for RD. I was accepted to Rice, along with Stanford, but got rejected at Princeton and Yale. I did not get to spend any time on my Princeton and Yale application as I had to rush it in before the deadline for the College Match Program. However, I waited to do the Stanford and Rice application later and voila, the extra time really did pay off

Congrats to everyone.

I got into Princeton today, but waitlisted at Harvard. I think QB helped me on this one as Princeton was one of my QB schools, as well as Stanford.

congrats to everyone …you all are pretty damn amazing.

To those interested in doing QB next year, I think the fee waivers and being forced to do it earlier definitely helps. If binding scares you (and four schools were not binding this year), just use the regular decision forwarding process.

If by the time you get there you realize your QB application was weak, then do regular decision I suppose if you can afford to pay the app fees.

Rejected from Stanford and Yale, my QB schools (saw that coming) but accepted to my top choice, Brown, and considering Amherst (although this is a QB school, I applied last minute and couldn’t use the regular decision forwarding… Amherst waived my fee with finalist status though). So ridiculously excited. I wouldn’t have been able to write my Brown essay if I hadn’t gone through QB essay writing first.

S fared lot better with his QB LAC choices acceptances at Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore as opposed to his QB university choices, Stanford, Yale and Princeton all rejections and a Rice acceptance. Overall, with considerations from other awesome non QB schools, Midd, Bates, Vandy, UVA, OSU, DS is ecstatic with choices. Definitely not looking a “gift horse in the mouth” just an observation in how he did comparatively LAC vs national university in the QB program.

google2008, yes, fee waivers are pretty important. i will have to pay my way through college/law school possibly as my family can’t afford to pay for my education… that’s why the binding sounds so appealing as it guarantees four year full ride (does that cover expenses though?hmm). Though I might use QB for RD, as I know that i’ll qualify for some schools that guarantee to meet 100% need ( i’m still not quite sure about those, do they mean that you have to reapply each year?? and do those cover housing, food, books ??) though the idea of rushing to complete essays definitely does NOT appeal to me… it took me FOREVER to finish my QB app for the scholarship (due tonight!!! eek!)

There is definitely a crazy rush in QB.
QB was intense. You do A LOT in a short amount of time, especially if you opt to do all the top-tier schools that require their own app. (You can probably see our stress level in this thread around the time 11/23-11/30)
The CSS Profile was killer as well, along with college apps, teacher recs, faxing/sending your tax forms, etc etc.

In the end, it paid off for me. I was matched with Yale, and although I was waitlisted at the other schools I applied (Stanford Princeton Columbia), it didn’t matter. Finding out my college on 11/30 really helped ease my Senior year. I felt really great just living out the rest of my year while my friends had to stress about it December and March. I felt really bad for them.

The fee waivers were nice, too. Not once did I had to pay for an admission fee, although I had to pay a sizeable fee for CSS profile.

Getting all your apps/essays/recs done in the beginning of the school year really helps.
a) you start early and get all your things done
b) if you apply reg you have now even more time to polish off your apps
c) your teachers will love you and will write much better recs since they have time (don’t get bunched in with the last-minute seniors!)
d) doing CSS Profile is already like doing your FAFSA (which is easier)

Also, the following schools this year were not binding:
Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Duke (not 100% sure on this)

For me, QB was REALLY worth it.

Accepted to MIT, Harvard and Yale (through QB).
Rejected from Stanford.

I liked QB because I was forced to do my Personal Statement. I also got the fee waivers.

Congrats Socalfreaklife!!!

Accepted To: Columbia and Stanford ( Qbridge)
Waitlisted at Harvard and Wharton
Rejected- Yale, Princeton ( Qbridge)

so 2/4 out of those crazy qbridge schools- not complaining…

so how many essays are there total for QB?? it seems like a lot!

like 3 main essays…
1-800 word…biographical
2- 500 word…something else
3-500 word something else

then there’s other stuff you have to write a bout

it really give colleges a view of you that you probably couldn’t have gotten had you applied normaly

^it sounds like even though the essays are a lot, it does paint a better picture of you as a person… that’s also pretty appealing, right along wth the fee waivers !!

crap i realized i forgot to list my sister under my current household for the College Prep Scholarship! is there any way to change it?? i emailed them a while back and they never responded…
