well, as long as you’ve emailed them and told the the information…can’t really hold it against you right? Might want to still follow up on that email though.

I finished up my College Prep Scholarship before the deadline and am thinking about it’s relation to the Match program next autumn. I am sort of leaning on this line of thinking, “If I don’t get accepted into the College Prep scholarship, is there any real reason to go for the Match program.” Is this reasonable?

Also, for the Match program, I hear you have to send in tax forms and whatnot. What if your parent makes no income and thus doesn’t file taxes. What do send in? EBT (food stamps) information? Medicaid info? I am sort of worried, because my mother doesn’t file taxes because we have no income.

Maybe QuestBridge has advice on when it’s a good idea to file even if you don’t expect either a refund of withheld taxes or to owe tax. Some working families that don’t owe tax are eligible for the child tax credit, but perhaps your “no income” excludes that situation.

Well, thanks for the information, tokenadult. I sent in a email just now to see what they say. Hopefully they will give me some guidance as to where to go with this next autumn during the Match program.

^ yeah i was thinking that too. if i’m not good enough to compete for the scholarship, do i even have a chance for the match ><

I think every part of application for the College Prep was extremely well done. The essay I wrote was probably the best I have ever written; however, I think it will be my SAT scores that kill me. CR: 640 // Writing: 640 (Essay 11) // Math: 560. Really pathetic. I just never studied for the SAT, so that explains it. I am going to study blue book over the summer to raise it to about 700+ on each section (wishful thinking). I may still travel along that line of thinking, although if I can get my SAT to where I want it to be, I think I will do ok.

Take the ACT with writing as well. Whichever presents the best score go with it. However some select schools will require SAT II’s, find out which ones, and thus your SAT scores may be available for review to schools in which you submit the SAT II’s to.

Sligh_Anarchist, what are you going to lose if you do QB? Nothing! you might spend a lot of time writing essays and completing your application, however when it’s time for you to submit your applications for other schools if you don’t make the match you will have 3 essays to choose from, and many parts of your application filled out so in December when everyone else is going crazy…you;ll just be semi-crazy. I also think it helps…al ot, even if you do not get matched.

You make a great point. Even if I don’t get accepted into the College Prep scholarship, it really wasn’t in vain. I have a really awesome essay I can potentially use for next year. Likewise for the Match program.

Doesn’t Questbridge forward your applications to the RD pool if you are not matched?

Yes they DO forward your application to the RD pool anyways.

QB match program helped alot of people and i think it helps ALOT if youre a minority or lower class. Although I didn’t get matched by the college match, I think it helped me alot by saving money on apps and forcing me to write several extra essays. Oh I also heard that starting this year the college match includes UPenn and Cal tech, which will draw even more applicants. Good luck to people applying this year!

Did anybody apply for the CollegePrep scholarship this year on here? I can’t wait for the decisions to come out on the 25th!

^ me!!! i’m soooo nervous ><

Awesome! I only signed up for the college admissions counselor as I already have a summer program I got accepted to.

slight note- I was rejected outright as a college prep scholarship…but made finalist and got accepted RD to Columbia and Princeton…so not getting one does not mean you won’t get another!

Oh, that’s cool. Gives me some hope come the 25th when we get our decisions.

I applied to this too…April 25th seems so far away!

Possibly silly question— what’s RD?

Ah, wait. Regular decision… Got it.

lol, you’ll get used to it ;)
