i applied to cps for just about everything (summer school, counseling, college visits/conferences). now that i realize that, i hope i dont/didnt seem like a leech or something when they consider/ed my app. my essay on a life changing experience was kind of bad (had to cut it down a lot), since i havent had many life changing experiences that were 500 words or less. heh.

lol i only applied for one of them…so I hope I don’t get shut out completely :(

which one did you apply for? I WISH I had applied for all of them. I know ppl who have already gotten emails about the counseling scholarship

Have any of you are applying to College Match program gotten any information from the partner colleges in the mail that even mentions Questbridge? I have practically requested information from all of the LAC partners, but they never mention Questbridge. Swarthmore, however, sent me a letter today mentioning my Questbridge College Prep winner status. Pretty neat, eh? (Good sign maybe???)

^ Ooh I just trashed my Swarthmore letter…maybe I should have read it :/

How’s life peeps?

hey guys…well has anyone submitted their application yet?

Sheed, we are all on the Questbridge thread in the college admissions forum :)

I’m almost done with my app - one more essay to do and I can kick back my feet (NOT). I now have to harass teachers and my guidance counselor…

1) i’m wondering if being an international student lowers my chance of getting accepted in RD? (I know the match round is restricted to only Yale/Princeton for me)

2) In the RD round, is Questbridge app more preferable for colleges? (I read many ppl’s comment on the advantage of Questbridge apps, but since many colleges also don’t accept QB app I’m thinking maybe colleges prefer common app?)

3) To successors of the Questbridge match, I know my chances are low because i can only send my early decision to Yale, and my stats aren’t that high! Should I apply for the match round at all?
Here are my stats:

GPA 3.81/4.00, SAT: 1950, (Didn’t take subject tests yet, but going to take Math IIC and Japanese), IB Diploma…,
President of National Honor Society, done 2-3 major community services, Varsity volleyball

And one last questions to successors… what does questbridge care most? grades? Essays? recommendation? SAT? activities?

^ Ask this in the official thread in the college admissions forum. See you there

where is the official thread btw?

Yeah, I have gotten my essays done (still need some editing),but now I am just trying to hurry up my counselor and one of my teachers. I’ve heard that the essays count the most, but I’m sure that they look at each applicant’s application rather holistically. Does anyone know if attending one of the summer college prep conferences (I attended the Yale one) sways any of the readers?

I just recently heard about Qbridge. But I was wondering, what is exactly considered low income. The site said applicants usually have a famioly income less than $60,000. My family income is $80,000. Is that even considered low-income for QBridge --is it worth applying?

Help!!! I don’t get anything about the match process: does ranking a school 1st help you in any way to get in (do schools even know how well they are ranked in QB?).

ivy24, with 80K, it’s gonna be tough, because I think almost every matched student had less than 60K income.

To everyone: It seems like we can still edit our application information AFTER we have submitted it. At 1st glance, it seems like I can still push the button “edit application” without an alarm going off. Does that mean we can still correct our application after we submitted?

Thanks so much.

Hi! If I am not named a finalist, it is okay to submit Common Application in RD round, or QB application with supplements will look better? Also, I am an international student - does it make a difference?

Good luck to everyone that applied this year !

Hey, I know that this is last year’s thread but was hoping that some former finalist might be able to shed some light on their experiences with Questbridge for all of us that are sitting and waiting.

Did anyone become a finalist who was just a regular low income (under$50,000) person who did not necessarily “have a story” to tell? I live in a middle class town and am clearly at a disadvantage in all things due to finances. There is no way that I can attend college without some big, big help. My parents both work hard and are struggling to get by. The cost of living has gone up tremendously where we live and if we were to try to move into our home now we could not afford it. So did anyone out there who fits this profile become a finalist last year? The waiting is killing me. Somehow I’m starting to think that I wasted my time applying!!

I also have a question. If i applied using the Questbridge application can I still apply early action to other schools using their vip priority select applications. They are nonbinding, but those applications are due pretty soon. I was just wondering if that was okay because I know that you cannot apply to other schools Early Decision when you apply using Questbridge. Thanks.

ontheradio, here’s the answer to your question from the QB FAQ at [National College Match Program: FAQ](http://www.questbridge.org/students/faqs.html#s3q6)

"5. If I apply to the College Match, can I also apply to another school Early Decision or Early Action?

If you choose to participate in the College Match, you cannot also apply to other colleges Early Decision or Early Action. Since the College Match is a binding early admission program, applying to both QuestBridge and another program early would violate the agreement with the other program. If you fill out an application but do not become a QuestBridge finalist (notification of finalist status will occur on October 24, 2008), then you are released to apply to any college Early Decision or Early Action. "

Chriscross, yes, I recall reading posts from College Match recipients who said they had no hardships other than their family income.
