I heard that this kid made a innovative robot starting from when he was young. Therefore, although his overall statistics didn’t match with those of applicants, MIT without any hesitation admitted him in… Can this be true? How would the application officers know this without personally knowing this kid, or without him writing a essay about it? Is there a way to put items other than application required such as miny robot/ items you invented?

I can’t imagine he didn’t mention this somewhere on his application, considering it would be a huge help admission-wise.
