Question about Revealing ADHD

Not looking for magic, but just starting to research various schools/programs and hoping to not reinvent the wheel as relates to ADHD STEM kiddos. She very likely won’t want a Landmark, because she’ll want a more normative experience. But I’m interested in learning about the nooks and crannies of the school search space that hold gems

I’m going to share some small to medium-sized schools that could be of interest that I’ve mentioned in other threads. I’m quoting them, in part, because those threads may have other useful suggestions for you. I understand that your D is interested in STEM and not just Engineering, but finding small colleges with engineering is not always the easiest. All these schools offer varsity women’s soccer and I’ve added in the school’s division listed in College Navigator (feds’ website) in brackets.

one school that seems smaller and more intimate is Muskingum in Ohio [D3]. It’s ABET-accredited for general engineering and its PLUS program offers four different levels of service, so you could taper as appropriate for your son (rather than some of the schools that do a lot first year, little the next year, and none the last two years). In case your son’s not quite on that timeline, this may be an option to consider, though depending on his exact engineering interests, a school with more specialized programming might be more appropriate. But the small class sizes might be particularly helpful in getting your son where he wants to go.

ETA: Marshall (WV) [D1] is well known for its support services. It’s often associated with autism, but also has services available for those without an ASD diagnosis (see HELP). It’s ABET-accredited in a number of engineering specialties.

Minnesota

• U. of St. Thomas: [D1] About 5900 undergrads and ABET-accredited for civil, electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering. Located in Saint Paul and @fiftyfifty1 speaks well of it.

Ohio

• Ohio Northern: [D3] About 2600 undergrads and ABET-accredited in CS, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and engineering education.
• U. of Mount Union: [D3] About 1900 undergrads and ABET-accredited in biomedical, civil, computer, and mechanical engineering.

Pennsylvania

• Penn State Erie (Behrend College): [D3] About 3200 undergrads and this is a residential campus where many/most students stay at this location all 4 years rather than switching to University Park after two years. ABET-accredited in computer, electrical, industrial, mechanical, and software engineering as well as in a couple other areas.

• Wilkes: [D3] About 2k undergrads and ABET-accredited in electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering.
• York: [D3] About 3300 undergrads and ABET-accredited in civil, computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering.

I suspect that Clarkson [D3] in NY would be worth a gander as it is definitely a STEM school. Cornell College (IA, D3) is one of the few schools that has a one-at-a-time model and it ABET-accredited, but only for general engineering. U. of Montana Western is the other one-at-a-time college I’m aware of that your D would have a decent chance of acceptance to (I suspect Colorado College is unlikely), but I don’t think it has the STEM strength that your family would want and they don’t have women’s soccer (though they do have varsity rodeo!).
