Question about UB dorming?

I just filled in my housing request and chose the Ellicott double as my first choice, and the Ellicott single as my second. Only Ellicott rooms and Governor rooms were available to choose from. However, on this link: Dates & Rates - Welcome Residents, Campus Living - University at Buffalo I see that there are "Greiner" rooms? I just wanted to make sure that I get the single that costs $7,556 over the $8,445 single, if I cannot get any double room. I would rather live in a triple than pay 2,000 extra for a single.

Could someone please explain this to me?

Also, how are the showering conditions like? In the 3D model floor plans I see that there is a shower and a bathroom in each room, but my friend who graduated from UB tells me that there were people who had to share bathrooms with the whole hall?

I can’t answer all of your questions, but I can answer a few. Greiner is only for Sophomores, so if you are entering as a Freshman, the only 2 dorm options on North Campus are Ellicott and Governors. There are Freshman dorm(s) on South Campus. In Governors, there is one bathroom that has 2 showers, 2 toilets and 2 sinks that are shared among 4 double rooms. The bathrooms in Ellicott are more or less larger and shared among many more rooms on the floor. Greiner has 1 shower, 1 toilet, and 2 sinks in a suite style configuration that has 2 double rooms - so shared by 4 people. Have no idea about the different pricing for different singles - haven’t considered one so haven’t looked into it.

I’m transferring into UB with 30 (soon 40) credits.

I didn’t get to choose south or north campus. I’m kind of confused by what you wrote. So Ellicott and Governor rooms are strictly north campus? What are the south campus dorms called?

On south campus the freshman dorm is Goodyear and the other dorm is Clement.

If you can, dorm at the North campus. Much nicer and in a really good and safe section of town of Amherst. The South campus is in a not-so-nice section of Buffalo and you have walk in groups etc…off the campus. Most of Governors is for Honors students, Leadership and students taking part in the academies from what Ive heard. Greiner is for sophomores only. Ellicott is a pretty big partying dorm. It probably depends on where your classes will be…at the south or north campus. I believe the medical related classes are all at the south campus, so that might give you reason to dorm there.
