My oldest is only an 8th grader, … but Auburn is her favorite school by far and her top choice at the moment.

I had two questions:

(1) Housing? I’ve heard that Auburn has a housing shortage. Will she have trouble finding a room on campus?

(2) Out of state acceptance & financial aid? Is it hard for an out of state student to be admitted and to receive financial aid? (We live in Virginia).

Thanks in advance!

Housing…yes a big shortgage…a lot of students apply the summer between their junior and senior year… as early as their counselor can get their transcript ready…with an early rolling admission the accepted student can send in a housing deposit…if you send it in very early you’ll get a room…

Aid…neither in state nor out of state aid is good…AU simply has more students than they need…the stats for admission have been steadily increasing…the demograhics and numbers of applicants will be that way for several more years.

If the specific program your daughter wants to study is not available in Virginia but is available at Auburn you can ask about taking advantage of the Academic Common Market where you pay in state tuition…I don’t know what type of stats applicants have to have to be offered out of state tuition waivers…maybe you’ll just need to move down here when your daughter is a junior! LOL

Good luck!
