Quick Poll: Mac or Windows?

Mac. To Mac from Windows…2002.

Regret switch? No.

LOVE our macs…will never ever ever use another machine

My H is getting his own next week!! woohoo

They both have their advantages. Macs are much more sleek. I’m using one right now.

I am a computer professional. My work is all windows and unix. My home is all Mac. I believe the OSX operating system is much better than any of the versions of Windows. Also think that the Mac hardware is better than most of stuff typically used by the home consumer. Some Mac hardware is a little overpriced, mainly the high end laptops but boy are they nice. Got two of them at home.

I like the price of Windows.

Mathson, says neither - go Linux!

mac, definitely.

Mac since 1984

Mac for sure!

Mac for me

Once you get a Mac you won’t go back

two sons–mac laptops
home–one macmini
one windows laptop

We have only used Macs from the first time we ever had a computer. All of our computers are Mac, as well as our college students’ laptops. When we got our very first computer, our kids were in elementary school and our school only used Macs and we wanted our home computer to coordinate with the ones at school when they took work back and forth on a disk. We have bought Macs ever since.

One of our college kids has two laptops, however. She went away to college with a brand new Mac for a laptop and that is her primary computer. However, she took a course last year involving computerized design and all the programs that the course used were only available for PC and so she had to also get a PC laptop in order to buy and run the design programs for the course (though she is going into architecture so hopefully she’ll have use for this in the future). So, she now has two laptops but still uses the Mac as her main one.

Windows … just to be different (on CC)

Mac OSX is a much better operating system, but as long as apple refuses to enter 2007 and not allow their parts to be compatible with those of other manufacturers (other than the intel processors), I have no interest in buying a machine that’s basically non upgradeable.

I’m happy with my Mac.

my daughters grade school had these [Ironically- where Bill and Melindas kids now attend](<a href=“Macintosh Classic - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_Classic</a>)
but
[this was our first Mac](<a href=“Macintosh IIsi - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_IIsi</a>)

It had 14MB of RAM!
[then I bought one of these](<a href=“PowerBook 500 series - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerBook_500</a>)

both older D and I had one of the clamshell ibooks
[very sturdy](<a href=“iBook - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBook</a>)

I still use my G4ibook- it works great!
I am looking at a desktop mini however- because younger D and I share the ibook and all her music is taking up a lot of room

We switched to Mac five or so years ago. No regrets. We own one desktop and two laptops.

I think the responses here are interesting. It would appear that CC parents (an fairly narrow, albeit, interesting demographic) overwhelmingly prefer Macs. I think back upon the days in the not-too-distant past, when it was declared that Macs were quickly becoming obsolete, and compare it with today wherein Apple products appears to be getting more hip and trendy by the day. Of course, I realize that there have always been die-hard Mac users (some of the above posters undoubtedly numbering among them).

But I’ve been thinking about the demographics that comprise the CC community: mostly educated (often highly), mostly politically savvy (and overwhelmingly within the Liberal spectrum, both socially and politically), proudly agnostic/generally religion-wary, largely upper-middle class professional…And apparently, enthusiastic Mac users.

I wonder if CC represents just a small slice of the typical Mac demographic pie…?

We’re a mixed family …

DH - Mac desktop and Mac laptop (FIL bought the Mac desktop for himself and decided he preferred Windows - HD benefits from the buyer’s remorse)
DD - Mac laptop
Me - Windows - I use the Mac when I’m in the other room, but I’m much more comfortable with the functions of Windows. When this computer bites the big one, DH says we’ll only use Macs.

Neither. Gentoo Linux.

Neither. Gentoo Linux

So what Browser do you use with that?
