im in this club & I’m the communications position, but i realized that i can’t do what i want at the club anymore so i don’t want anything to do with it and we’ve started getting information about the club this coming year and i just want to leave it because it’s not fair to me or the club if i don’t “believe in” the club’s purpose anymore. help sos what do i do
That is a problem, since I’m guessing not much has changed when you were named officer last spring.
Who have you been getting info from-- a moderator?
I would get back, presumably via email right away-- tonight–and announce your resignation from the position.
Don’t expect the people who will be picking up the slack to be particularly grateful.
information from the girl who had the job before me is giving us most of the information. yeah i can’t imagine that they would be very happy with me if i resign
You are the communications person? The OP is not well communicated…
If you’re determined to do it, do it today. Submit an official letter of resignation to the club moderator via email. Once he/she has accepted it (by replying to you) you can send it to the other officers.
But, again, expect some backlash. It’s August, and you’re leaving them starting the school year in a hole.
Even in my fifties I still struggle with this, but it is important to learn how to say “no” You don’t have to join every committee, volunteer for every cause or donate every time you are asked. Don’t be that person that says “yes” and backs out of things all the time. I can’t tell you how great it felt when recently someone asked me to take over as chairperson on a committee and I said “No” - didn’t make up some excuse, didn’t say I’ll think about it, just said “nope”!
