Quotes/Passages about Mediocrity

I don’t know if anyone will have anything to say about this, but…

Alright so I have this friend. And he was always decently smart, but in the beginning of junior year he adopted this “I’m going to stop trying” attitude because it’s easier to get a test back and say “well what do you expect - I didn’t study” than “I tried but I still didn’t quite get it.”

Anyway, he and I were looking for this passage we’d read in an English class a while ago. It’s written ironically, says something like “go ahead, embrace mediocrity, reject intellectualism…all that sh**'s too hard for you anyway.”

Unfortunately I don’t remember any specific key words/phrases in it or who wrote it :stuck_out_tongue: So does anyone know the passage I’m talking about or any other quotes about settling for being average?

moral relativism makes mediocrity much more bearable. ;)

though even i couldn’t convince myself of that for more than a few months
