One of the truly, truly memorable concerts was when I saw Count Basie, Joe Pass, Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson, perform together at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.
What a night-
( I have to get one of those USB turntables— SANTA?- Ella and Oscar was a huge favorite of mine)

I also saw this concert in SF. It was incredible. He played “Nature Boy” and I can still hear it. The definition of beautiful. That concert changed my life. My brother-in-law gave me Oscar Peterson and Joe pass cds for Hanukah this year.

I also have the Ella and Oscar CD. My wife used to sing “Mean to Me” all the time.

His death is sad. I saw him perform so many times. Many memories. There is nobody like Oscar.

love itunes- I can make H a cd even though Im 300 miles from home

I worked at a record store for about a year- we got tickets as soon as they went on sale- Eric Clapton in the same venue- both within the 1st 10 rows-
I think we were actually 3rd row to see Oscar Peterson.
Really some huge legends who made this world a more beautiful place with their music.

We still have some jazz talents still with us. ![]()
Ernestine Anderson- a talented Garfield grad who is one of Mr Petersons peers is still living in Seattle and perfoming live.

My H and two of my Ds went to a memorial tribute to Oscar Peterson on the weekend (actually my H went to two!) here in Toronto. His wife and daughter, as well as many others, spoke of Oscar’s influence, both near and far, and there were many wonderful performers on hand to honor him. He was admired worldwide but everyone who attended got the true sense of the man who loved his hometown, his family, friends, his dog, and enjoyed nothing better than playing his piano in his home studio. He’ll be missed by many.

Thanks for sharing alwaysamom
