This “news” has been published and republished since early May, I believe. It definitely does not hurt to change PW periodically and have additional layers of protection.

Definitely…I’ve put MFA on nearly everything I can. It’s a PITA but obviously safer.

Seems like the main source is https://cybernews.com/security/billions-credentials-exposed-infostealers-data-leak/ . The data breach appears to be of the cracker’s storage that allowed the cracked password databases to be exposed to the public.

For all of those finding your roots fans. I’m hoping this is gift linked or doesn’t need one :crossed_fingers:

Check out “Tomatoland” by Barry Estabrook; his book elaborates on many of the issues touched on the the NYT article, plus the attendant costs in human labor. It’s depressing and scary.

This is why I grow my own tomatoes in a garden at my house.

The author writes that “None of the deans I spoke with aspires to launch, say, a department of art within their college of computing, or one of politics, sociology, or film. Their vision does not reflect the idea that computing can or should be a superordinate realm of scholarship, on the order of the arts or engineering.”

But wouldn’t general education requirements that computing division majors require be available in other departments (e.g. in the traditional arts and sciences divisions)?

For example, the UCB CCDSS division has general education requirements similar to the L&S division, but with a “Human and Social Dynamics of Data and Technology Requirement” instead of a foreign language requirement.

I was able to attend the test. That booster packs a lot of punch. You could tell something went amiss when there was a small explosion near the end of the test. But still what a cool experience.

“The BOLE design is intended for use on SLS missions starting with Artemis 9 in the 2030s. It replaces the shuttle-era steel casings for the solid rocket motors with new carbon fiber composite designs.”

Carbon fiber… hmmm…

What is the “hmmm” about carbon fibers composites? Is this a bad thing?

Just thought of one infamous submersible…

Hah! I didn’t realize that was constructed out of carbon fiber composites.

{ In 1908}, It caused a four-megaton explosion, equivalent to the blast energy 250 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, at 3 to 6 miles altitude over Tunguska, Russia, a remote area in Siberia.

The Tunguska Event devastated 830 square miles and flattened 80 million trees, representing the largest asteroid crash to occur in modern times. Asteroid Day is held every year to commemorate this impact, as a reminder to the world that planetary defense against asteroids and comets matters.

What a good article. I have a relative I suspect is gay. He and his wife never had kids, but adopted a child. They’ve been married 52 years now and seem happy. This relative belongs to a hardcore fundamentalist church, and he would have been shunned if he ever came out. :frowning:
