here’s a podcast that anyone can listen to at no charge.

I’m going to take a wild guess that my YouTube feed is much different than most people here. This video popped up this morning and it caught my attention because LEO son has headed down the tactical medic pathway. I didn’t know anything about the host, or the guest. I was simply looking for some background information about something I have very limited knowledge of.

The video opens with bearded tactical dudes pushing some energy drink that pays the bills. It goes on far too long. After that there’s some dude chit chat about how they met. Then the guest gives some background about his pathway to the SWAT/tactical medic world, but that’s not why I’m sharing this.

During the interview it comes up that the guest was part of an officer involved shooting incident. It was his first person description of the circumstances, but particularly the “fog of war” aspect, that caught my attention. Then the conversation naturally progressed into the immediate after action process and associated stress. Surprisingly, but thankfully, that steered the discussion towards mental health. It was great to see typical tactical “alpha males”(some might say toxically masculine) have a very real, and explicitly supportive conversation about mental health strategies to help people process the traumatic experiences they encounter.

To save everyone time I’ve provided the pertinent time stamps below.

Officer involved shooting:

38:40 - 51:40

After action/first 24 hours & stress:

51:40 - 59:00

Mental health:

59:00 - 1:09:09

The suspect, Seth “Andrea” Gregori, allegedly expressed “clear planning, intent and steps taken to ambush and kill police officers in Corpus Christi, Texas,”

Some food for thought on a couple of things that have touched on recently in this forum

This may be a bucket list trip for me. I loved the 2 weeks I spent in Alaska years ago.

“So, how did Aleysha become a college student who can’t read or write? The same way she got through high school, she says: By relying on apps that translate text to speech and speech to text. She used the technology to fill out her college application, including writing an essay.

Aleysha says she’d record all of her classes on her cell phone, then later replay everything her teachers said. She used her laptop’s voice-to-text tool to search the definition of each word, then turned that text into audio she could understand. Once she grasped the assignment, she’d speak the answer, turn it into text and then cut and paste the words into her homework.”

I understand the system above for homework, but I’m curious how she succeeded during in classroom exams well enough to graduate with honors.

This broke my heart. His teachers & later his classmates were concerned enough to get authorities involved, but the system failed him.

As someone who had a child very involved with music and youth orchestra in high school, this got me. Don’t let this be political but to understand the value of music love
