This is rather horrifying. How did this young man get recruited to UCLA with these charges against him, and how did Harvard Westlake let this come to pass?

Very in depth reporting, originally from the OC Register which is behind a paywall but I think this should be a free link here:

Money is everything, unfortunately.

Money, and winning, apparently.

But I wonder if the other phenomenal D1 athletes recruited to UCLA want to play with someone who has admitted to sexually assaulting his teammates?

Will colleges still fill out surveys?
If not, what will we talk about here?

If there is no staff to review the surveys, they can still be useful if technology can readily turn responses into information posted to the IPEDS website. I think it’s more complicated than that, though, so it’s possible that survey information may be collected but not used, depending on staffing. The one thing I’m sure of is that schools will submit all mandatory surveys. The financial penalties for not doing so are stiff.

Reminder, this is the non political thread.

Wow.

Yikes! I feel for all those who are impacted.

Personally, I prefer no mugshots in our family. Viral mugshots…plural? Hell no.

If this was your child how would you feel?

If that were my kid, she’d be living at home and finishing up college locally, under my roof, with a lot of rules and some mom and dad mandated community service (if not mandated by the courts). I’d be mortified!

Amazing poem here:

I enjoyed the poem but confess as I started reading it, I thought of Severance.

I would bet that her parents would not do what you would do, which is why she did what she did.
