Well, the question is whether the WA police Department will NOW investigate it as a murder?!?!
Nope. Suicide. The “skincare expert” behind this has been discredited in a number of places. He was depressed, in constant pain from a stomach ailment, and a heroin addict. I don’t have a lot of confidence in the SPD, but I believe they reached the right conclusion.

The park featured in the article is in Bedford Stuyvesant, until recently a predominantly African- and Caribbean-American neighborhood in north central Brooklyn.

Forget Florida. They Got Older and Moved to New York.

First of all, I resent reading that 65 is considered old(er). Second, the guy in the article moved from San Fran to NYC, more of a lateral move, where he is “undeterred” by his $11K monthly rent. Not exactly an option for even most. “Older” adults with that kind of money can do whatever they want. My in-laws retired to L.A. Meh.

I pay $2400 for a rent-stabilized (government rent control) 2-bedroom apartment in a wonderful neighborhood with NYC transit buses on the corner and subway with elevator a 5-minute walk away. A studio or one-bedroom would be considerably less and 2-br coops with balcony are around $500k with monthly fees (mostly tax-deductible) less than $1k. There’s a great senior center with modern exercise equipment and many different classes, 10 minute walk, $10 annual membership which gives access to all NYC pools and gyms. I have often said here and IRL that NYC is a wonderful place to grow old, for rich and poor.

I would love to retire in NYC! Just being in my walkable neighborhood in my midwestern city suits me much more than the years I lived in the suburbs.If D and SIL had stayed there I would have considered it.
