Although the power of attorney was executed legally with the name corrections it should have been redone to have a pristine copy. It’s one of those documents you don’t want anybody to question its authenticity. If the POA was determined to be legal at any point then yes, the facility was holding her against her will. I can well imagine that the place was reluctant to let her go at 28K/month especially if their first inclination is to send her to a locked dementia ward.

My MIL’s sisters lived to 97 and 98. MIL has now surpassed them, at almost 99. She has not lived a healthy lifestyle, not did they. And they all paid for it by living a life that most of us wouldn’t choose in their final years. My genetics indicate that I could live either into my early 80’s or into my 90’s, depending on whether my mom’s or my dad’s longevity genes influence me. I plan to try to make whatever time I have on this earth as active and engaged as I possibly can.

U.S. Military Severs Grad Program Ties with Harvard
Hegseth said that the defense department will not “support an environment that’s destructive to [the] nation and the principles that the vast majority of Americans hold dear” and accused Harvard of tolerating antisemitism, promoting racial discrimination, and maintaining ties with the Chinese Communist Party.
“This department has sent our best and brightest officers to Harvard, hoping the university would better understand and appreciate our warrior class,” said Hegseth. “Instead, too many of our officers came back looking too much like Harvard—heads full of globalist and radical ideologies that do not improve our fighting ranks.”
“We train warriors, not wokesters. Harvard, good riddance.”

What a shameful and dangerous example of censorship and thought control. Education can now be labelled “risky?” This is where we are? Really? This is NOT OK!!!
If I didn’t know for certain this is real, I would have thought it was an Onion piece. It’s almost funny.
Our son saw this coming and is part of the reason he turned down the Army’s PhD offer as all of the schools with the programs he’s interested in are on that list. Nah. He’s done.

One of my neighbors taught himself mandarin well enough to be able to do business with his Mandarin. His wife is from Hong Kong but I was impressed that he could teach himself so well to be able to do business with his Mandarin. He’s an architect and did business in Asia while his wife stayed in HI, doing her speech therapy. It’s impressive that they are able to communicate as well as they do in the article.
