I think this sentence from the article identifies the root cause.
“There are several theories as to why young people are in trouble, he said, but he suspects that the problem is largely tied to what they aren’t doing because they’re busy looking at screens.”

One of the linked articles – “The Lost Children of Tuam” – is one of the best pieces of journalism/reporting that I have ever read. Heartbreaking and haunting.
Cases have been occurring in people who are not in the usual high risk categories.
“Untethered empathy.” If that’s not the kind of baloney JC would have spoken out against, I don’t know what is.
Glad they caught him and fired him:
Mods, please move this as needed–I only follow the cafe and some political stuff.

Looks like rapid antigen tests for 9 respiratory infections are available for about USD $3.50 each. Problem is, not in the US…
“9 results with only one test & one sample (COVID-19, Influenza A virus(Flu A), Influenza B virus(Flu B), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Adenovirus (ADV), M.Pneumoniae (MP), Chlamydia Pneumoniae(CP), Parainfluenza Virus 1/3 (PIV 1/3) and Parainfluenza Virus 2 (PIV 2).”
For comparison, in the US, we can only get 3 way (COVID-19, flu A, flu B) tests for $8-12 each in small numbers, and COVID-19 only tests for $5-10 each in small numbers.
I bought tests from Germany that test for covid, flu A&B & rsv. They were under $4 apiece. Had to have them nailed to UK and forwarded back in Dec.
What a thoughtful and wonderful boss!
