rank problem

Ya right now I’m ranked 88/354 (top 25% barely :(). and I’m REALLY trying tobring it up to top 10%. After this semester, my rank so go up considerably (all As and a B). Next year I’m taking 5 AP classes, 1 IB class and 2 PIB classes. The rest of my high school years will only be AP and IB classes. Can someone please tell me, if I keep my rank they way it is, how much it would hurt with such a rigorous course load, a lot of ECs, etc?

Well, i’m guessing your gpa is between 3.0 and 3.5. Those AP/IB courses should only help you if you do well, as in get A’s or B’s in those classes. I think you’re a sophomore. But it is a difficult transistion at first to have suddenly different work loads. I took 4 AP courses for junior year and 3 for senior year along with other core courses, that was busy enough for me. I didn’t do sports, but a lot of other service and clubs.

To be top 10%, you would have to be in the 35th person in line. No doubt with that many students in your school, there are those very high achieving students. However, I think that if you can focus on those classes, those classes should help your grade to go higher.

What AP/IB classes are you signed up for?? some classes are harder than other. For ex. AP Bio was a lot more work than AP Microecon. But really, if you work hard enough, you’ll come out with a’s and b’s for your classes, and your gpa would be pretty good.

My GPA is a 3.73 unweighted and a 4.1 weighted a/o 2nd semester grades in. I’m taking AP Art History, AP Calculus AB, IB Computer Studies, AP US govt, AP English Language, and AP Statistics.

What grade are you in? How much time do you have?

I still have a LOT of time. I’m gonna be a sophomore next year (just finished school). I know I have a lot of time, but just in case I don’t bring it up, I just want to make sure that colleges will see the classes I will take.

Don’t worry about it so much. You have no problem yet. Just get better grades, if it’s so important to you.

You have a 3.73 UW and is in 25%??? Your school must be hard.

i know!!! i don’t get it either

well if their school ranks by weighted, then the 4.1 might put him at 88
