Recently, my new school just angers me… lol… I made another rant about class rank, but for this one I’m just gonna complain about how the teachers don’t teach and the lack of school culture.
I’m rly disappointed in my teachers bc i feel like im not learning enough and not being pushed hard enough. Like i know i want all A’s but ap classes are literally made to prepare for the exam, it needs to be more challenging. It’s not bc im some genius or anything but literally in a normal day, i only have 1-2 hours of work, and on a hard day, i have 5 hours, when i hear ppl do hmwk right when they get home until midnight. When i hear for almost every ap class at my school, the pass rate is just around 30%, it rly scares me. My old school, a majority of ppl pass. Like im not paying $80 per test to fail… in my old school, i only paid $5 per test. Id be more at ease if i failed. im not giving up nearly $500 to just do soaps charts the whole semester and whatever im learning in calc or other classes, other schools did that 3 weeks ago. We dont even do an essay a month, while other schools do an essay a week. I dont want the curricula to be taught slowly for the first chapters then the final chapters all crammed in. In spanish, we just answer questions but theyre not in the same style as the test. A third of the time, we’re watching movies. Ive learned practically nothing, so i had to teach myself new vocab and tenses. At my old school, every year, english classes would require you to read 6-7 classics. Im not required a single book here. Honestly, school admin just wants to get max kids in ap but what for? They do quantity over quality. If they really wanted more kids in, they should invest more money in programs to help teachers teach and for the test costs bc who would wanna take the test if it costs so much and youre likely to fail? Ive heard some schools give their teachers $50 bonus for every kid who passes and $100 for every 5. Im shocked that school admin never shut up about how my school is “one of the best in america on us news and world report.” My old school was too and actually ranked higher too but I didn’t have to hear that how can it be one of the best if a minority of kids pass and the grade inflation is so high, lots of kids have 4.5 cumulative gpas? Idk i dont wanna sound elitist or something but school could be better
School culture also sucks because there’s no good activities. Prom is held in a gym. There’s no sadies or winter formal. No physics boat race. No winter wishes from asb, no left behind or senior buddy pictures. No pageant for Mr. And Mrs. “Insert school name”. No school rival, so there’s no fun, rowdy trash-talking competition. At my old school, we and our rival actually vandalized each other. Although I don’t condone grafitti, it is pretty fun. My school is literally next to a cow farm.
