They are predicting 6-12" snow in my area. Just when I thought winter was over.
I wish that were our forecast. No snow here in MD and a snow day would be quite welcome!
I’m flying out Wednesday morning to Florida and I can switch my flight for no charge, but I’m not quite ready to do it. I don’t have to be there for any reason so going the next day or so is no problem. I’m not supposed to get the worst snow (predicting 8" and done by Weds morning) but that can change. Also it’s supposed to be really windy after snow ends and so might be a really bumpy flight.
13" forecast here in Central NY. Probably no school. Better fill up the snowblower with gas and make sure I have all I the food etc. that I need.
@emilybee, why not switch your flight to BEFORE the storm?
good idea so I checked and all sold out except for the 6am flight and I’ve got stuff I need to do tomorrow morning.
Worst that will be is I go later in the week. I’m just going to my mom’s so no hotel reservations to worry about. And it just me - H isn’t going.
We’re flying to Iceland from Kennedy tomorrow at 9 PM. There are blizzard warnings from midnight on. Hopefully the flight is on time and they’re correct on the weather timing. If the flight is late or the bad weather is early, it will be interesting.
@firstwavemom you must be some inland southern place in MD. My Annapolis relatives are expecting five inches or more.
We are in the high amount area but the forecast keeps changing. Expecting 6-12 inches…at least.
@emilybee I don’t think you will be flying this week. Unless you do it today. Folks are already rescheduling trips out of Manchester and Portland…and Boston. We know because we have family trying to fly in and out…and they can’t.
Up to 16 inches in my neck of the woods. I need to go to the grocery store as I’m past due on restocking regardless of the storm.
I went! I already had milk and eggs! But I got a nice loaf of bread and a BIG thing of Velveeta to make grilled cheese.
Power cannot go out!!
They are good at forcasting but it sounded like a fine line. Predicting is ±3 hours depending how that line shifts. If the snow stays I get to try my new snow shoes!

@thumper1 I just got back from the grocery store with stuff to make one meal soup. Having a gas stove doesn’t hurt, either.
The remarkable thing to me…I went to Target. It was not crowded. Betting tomorrow will be a zoo!!
I’m flying out of Albany. The worst of the storm in going to be along the coast. I’m not under the blizzard watch, either. They are only forecasting 8" here on Tuesday with lingering snow showers Wednesday morning and my flight is not until noon. If my flight gets cancelled, I’ll rebook. I can extend on the other end of my trip if I have too. It’s not that big of a deal because I don’t work. I’m just going to my mom’s to sit at the pool and to the tennis for a few days at the end of next week.
Please snow don’t come here. It’s supposed to be spring break. We are in the DC area.
Well I am on the South Shore of Long Island where at the moment they are predicting 12-18 inches. Needless to say not happy but I am prepared to hunker down but I am alone as DH is on annual golf trip to Florida. He and his friend left on Thursday last week because they were concerned about last week’s forecast which amounted to nothing. So I am well stocked having visited Trader Joe’s yesterday, I have lots to read, have my computer, have Netflix, and most importantly I have lots of cash for the snow shovelers!
Power lines on our street and to the closest main cable run underground, so we rarely lose electric. But the last two nights have been so crazy cold that it dawned on me, if we did, there won’t be options. No way to get to a hotel. D1’s walking distance, tho, and has a fireplace.
What I heard is no one yet knows how much snow/where, til it starts. @DocT right now, I think they only expect some snow to begin well after midnight, Tues am.
And I just got back from FL. Friend’s still sending pix of the beach.
@lookingforward the underground power lines near your home and the main road are not the issue. It’s the above ground main lines, and substations that cause power outages.
We are in the over 10 inch forecast right now… it it’s a moving target. I figure I’ll know more…on Tuesday.
@thumper1 Updated forecast shows some serious snow headed my way–near DC. I’m a teacher hopefully we will have a snow day or 2!
12-18" predicted in our part of Maine.

Up to 20+ inches now being predicted here in CT.
