Ready for the nor'easter?

@thumper1 Whatever serves my street and one adjoining, our power doesn’t usually go out when others on the nearby streets around us have the problem. We’re just wired differently. Luckily. Here (as opposed to other communities around us,) it’s not usually the substation, but their poles, a very local issue.

^^^^^^^ Yup, in our region of CT now too. Times like this I have a love-hate thing going with being able to work remotely. I’m sure H will have a “snow day” but I’ll be expected to put in a full day at home…Sure would be nice to just cozy up by the fire. Maybe I’ll take a vacation day…

Snow is probably not going be the main concern here in southern NJ coastal area. With the recent warm weather , we opened a couple of our seasonal business locations that are prone to flooding. It looks like we need to remove things we brought in to keep them from being destroyed by the inevitable tidal flooding…not pleased with you , mother nature

In southwestern ct where we are, it’s still 12 - 18 inches predicted,

I can’t seem to find an inches forecast for northwest CT.

DH is away…and I’m hoping he comes home before the storm. Otherwise…I am calling someone to plow. I’m NOT snowbloing a foot of snow off of our large driveway alone!!

They updated me to 12"-18" so I decided to change both my flights to the 20th-27th. I only wanted a direct flight and and all the direct flight were sold out.

Ugh… I am traveling FROM Florida TO CT on Wed. evening. I was up there a couple of weeks ago when we had 15" of snow. I feel like I bring bad luck to the state.

100% likelihood of snow where we live. I am still skeptical, but will buy bread and eggs tomorrow nonetheless.

My d and her 2 friends are here for spring break. They’re in baltimore now. I kind of hope we get a little - I’ve got two southern girls here and one hasn’t seen snow since she was 6.

We have tickets to tour the capitol tomorrow - you’d think living here for 25 years I would have squeezed that one in sometime before now. But I want them to see snow, but I don’t want to be inconvenienced by it.

I"m just finishing up spring break (lots of work–grading, service work, etc., but from home, which is nice.) My classes run Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, so a Tuesday blizzard means I don’t have to go back till Thursday. I can live with that!

I’ll believe it when I see it. Forecasters hype up these storms (STORMWATCH!) and then they rarely pan out.

When they started giving snowstorms and such names, I really feel the hype took off to a whole other level.

I’m not sure which is worse – I’m at Indian Wells, where it’s 97 degrees, until Thursday. Meanwhile, home (central PA) is in the 12 - 24 inch zone. There’s nobody there to shovel, and I have no idea how the petsitter is going to get in to feed my guinea pig.

Can the pet sitter take the guinea pig home with him/her between now and the storm start to be on the safe side? @stevensmama?

@stevensmama, are you at the tennis?

Yup.

^Better to be in IW then PA.

I have spare bedrooms in SE Florida.

I’m going to see if I can find phone numbers online for the petsitter and our lawn guy (who I think also does snow removal).

@garland , Cape May county is supposed to get a rather significant storm surge…I hope your house is far enough away from potential floods
