I’m amazed Barbie was nominated for best picture. The Oscars usually shun popular movies and have since the mid 2000s. My friends and I always joke that we know which movies will get the most nominations/win best picture because they’re the ones we haven’t seen and have no interest in doing so.
IMO the acting isn’t Oscar quality but Ryan gosling stole the show in many ways so I’m happy he received recognition. It’s unlikely he’ll win. The set production deserves recognition as well as I’d argue the soundtrack/original songs.
