I’ve been looking at a bunch of music videos on YouTube recently, and every now and then I am encountering some where the color shimmers / turns rainbow colors / blurs for a second or two, then comes back, then maybe a few seconds later this happens again. I suspect this is something that has to do with copyright infringement (that is, making the video have a different “fingerprint” so it’s not caught). Am I correct? Since I can’t link to YouTube here, I can’t show an example, but it’s clearly something in the video as opposed to an issue with the internet or my computer.

If you look at the revised Terms of Service, YouTube links are now allowed on CC.

There are these three little knobs on the back of your set. You hold a mirror in front of the screen so you can see what you’re doing while you reach around the back and play with them. It helps to get up early in the morning and do it while the test pattern is on.

^It helps to have grown up in the 50s.

Have somebody hold the rabbit ears next to the window. Does the problem go away?

Har har. Sorry I asked.

come on, guys…

The reason for the blurry might be the following causes:

The originals have blurrys

Youtube has a glitch

Internet Supplier you have had a glich

You have a problem in your computer, a virus or an application which draws more cpu than it should.

The way to diagnoes the problem is to run the same video twice on your computer to see if the same spot is blurry, if it is, the originals have a problem. If not, then run it on different computers to see if the blurry repeat itslf. If so Your internet provider or Youtube has a problem. Otherwise your computer has a problem.

PG, it could be electromagnetic wave interference from another electrical device. When this blurring appears, are you simultaneously listening to your Victrola?

Only at 78 rpm, Schmaltz.

PG, take a look at Vimeo. It is higher quality.

Don’t forget wrapping aluminum foil on the rabbit ears!

And if all else fails, pull out all the tubes and take them to the free tube-checker at the drug store.

annasdad, :)

I think you were recarnated from a century ago. Spooky… :)

You could tape a quarter on the tonearm to keep it from skipping. I don’t think that would solve the problem, though.

Does the blurring appear when you are watching Sid Caesar videos or Uncle Miltie videos?

ILoveLA, thanks for the tip re the quarter…Perry Como never sounded better!

Never expected this blast from the past when I checked this thread… How did you get the colors? My set was always black and white… And don’t forget the adapter thingy to put in the middle so it fits the tiny center post…

Guilty. And d*mn proud of it. We didn’t need no stinkin’ Internet to find ways to waste perfectly good time. We had The Price is Right and Milton Berle.
