I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a good quality sectional sofa for around $1,000. Looking for delivery in the Atlanta area. Thanks!

Well…as a point of reference…we got a new regular sofa, not a sectional, 11 years ago. Nothing fancy…and it was $1200.

I think you might be able to find something for $1000 at IKEA…but their upholstered furniture isn’t my idea if “good quality”.

For $1000, I think you will have a challenge finding a better quality sectional.

My D found a really nice sectional sofa via Craigslist. It was in immaculate condition.

In our experience, craigslist folks don’t deliver!

Try Pottery Barn.

I can’t comment on how good their sofas are but the look nice.

We have one purchased from Costco 2-3 years ago. It’s held up fairly well, but it isn’t used much by other than lounging young adults.

I saw something that fits the bill at Costco. I think it was faux leather and had three recliners. I did not check it but it looked nice.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Rooms to Go has a few sectionals in this price range.

Sams club…either online or in-store

Costco’s are generally a LOT higher.

Thanks again!

Sometimes you get what you pay for. But at this stage of life you won’t want to overpay for something you won’t want when you are empty nesters. Check the local ads for the stores in your area. Likely many sales. the t few times I have checked out Ikea I have not been at all impressed with their merchandise.

I think it’s true that you get what you pay for. But if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need. Sorry.

I got a nice sectional from Raymour and Flanigan for about $1200. It’s not huge – but it’s just what we need in our beach house loft. It’s 4 sofa cushions long with a 2+ sofa cushion chaise. It’s not the greatest quality in the world – but for our weekend home without any sort of children – small, school age, grown or otherwise – it’s standing up well.

Spent the last several days sofa shopping with D1 in her college town before the next phase of grad school starts. Good quality sofas are not cheap. Cheap sofas are not good quality. Sectionals are even more pricey; I didn’t see any which were under $1000, even at places generally considered to be bargain stores.

Seems like the budget will need to increase :)! Any experience with West Elm?

^^^D1 just bought a few items from West Elm, but they have not yet been delivered, so can’t yet give a review.

My daughter got a very nice new sofa at a place in her town called Fifty Off Outlet - name/nice brand furniture that as been discontinued. Sorts send there leftover new pieces and they start at 50% off. Pieces go lower if they are on the floor too long. She got a really nice $1200 sofa for under $600!!!

Also consider going to “the dump” off piedmont and Sidney Marcus blvd.

two more suggestions- “By Design” has an outlet store behind their store off Jimmy Carter and Dawson Blvd. You can get fabulous deals. And believe it or not, Macys sales can be extremely good. I got one of those new sofabeds with the built in foam mattress, and got them to match Haverty’s free delivery deal they were offering at the time.

I second Macy’s sales–and use whatever coupons you can find in the paper/online etc.
