Can anyone please tell me that on what basis is a student visa denied ??? What is the percentage of denials??
- when the source of fund is not reliable/is suspicious
- when your actions in US indicate that you are intending to live in US NOT for studying
3 incomplete application; error; etc
These two are common reasons for denial, but technically you can be denied for god-knows-what reason.
Also, USCIS doesn’t disclose such information.
The fastest way to a denial is applying for a student visa and explaining to want to get an American degree in order to work in the US. A student visa is to STUDY. You’re not asked about unpredictable things beyond the fact you want to study (say), American history or computer science. You’d have to explain why in the US and why this specific subject, of course. Any hint that you’re making it all up to get a visa then look for a job will lead in denial.
Another reason is, as Paul said, if your funds look dubious, insufficient, etc.
In FY 2013, about 23% of F-1 visa applications were denied world-wide, mostly because of suspected immigration intent.
All applicants for a non-immigrant visa are presumed to have immigration intent. The burden is on the applicant to convince their interviewer that they intent to leave the US at the end of their temporary stay. This is most commonly done by demonstrating “binding ties” to your home country - family, property, etc.
