My son’s ophthalmologist told him to search on-line for the best price for his new contact lenses (kind of strange–he has always sold them in the past). Anyway, this task has been delegated to me, and as I have had a couple of bad on-line purchase experiences lately, I am hoping someone can provide me with some suggestions for sources (and sources, if any, to avoid).

Thank you for being the source for finding out anything.

I’ve used VisionDirect twice. Prompt service, good prices. If you have a Discover card and go to VisionDirect’s website through your online Discover account’s partner shopping, 15% of the the purchase price will be credited to your rewards.

We also use VisionDirect.com. Have used them twice now with no problems. Fast shipping, the best prices I could find. You can do a search for Vision Direct coupons and come up with some codes. I also think they offer 15% off for new customers. I just paid about $103.00 for 8 boxes of Acuvue 2.

My son uses 1-800 contacts. For glasses, he uses Zennioptical.com. Great prices. $30 for rimless, hingeless glasses. And they’re perfect. His ophthalmologist’s office checked the prescription, and it was exact.

I’ve used lensmart.com, and I think I got 7% cash back by clicking through eBates. It was slightly less expensive than 1800contacts before the cash rebate.

1800contacts has a price match guarantee, so I usually just Google around for the website with the cheapest price (usually ends up being a sketchy-looking website that I wouldn’t trust giving my credit card). Then, I buy through 1800contacts and email to get a price match, since I know their site is secure.

If you don’t feel like buying on line, Land stores" will often match the best on-line price you can find if you bring a “shopping cart” printout to them

Another 1-800 contacts buyer here. We got a great price for D but I do recall that to get that great price I had to get a year’s worth at one time!

1-800Contacts for my son too. His ophthalmologist set this up for us and “they” check with them about updates. It’s about $1.00 a day (I think).

I work in the business and I suggest that if you order from anyone always check the expiration date. I have had patients come in with eye infections because the contact lenses were expired by 1 year.

I have a weird story about 1800contacts - We received a shipment, and in the shipping box was someone’s dentures!!! I’m not kidding! I called the company and they were completely flabbergasted.

We switched to visiondirect. By the way, if you don’t use the website ebates, you really should - you get a 7.5% rebate on all contacts ordered through their website. There’s tons of other online stores connected to ebates, also.

1-800-Contacts is owned by Walmart. You can get the same prices at Walmart as you can from the website. I was told that Walmart has much better prices now than before they merged with 1-800

I have always thought that prices were best at Costco. That’s where I always bought mine until we moved away.

Ok so i have to ask what will seem like a stupid question: but I dont live in the States anymore. Hiow does it work with the prescription and the online ordering? do you still need a prescription for the contacts? Can you just order them?
