Recommendations and Financial documents

This is a thread to provide you with help regarding recommendation and financial aid.

You need you parents statement of employer if they have jobs and a income statement if they have a business along with bank statement.
for recommendation I prefer that you go to your college and give them a sample copy. Guide the teachers through each process. Even uploading the reco in common app. even though in my college there are students who go to US regularly the teachers still need guidance to do that. So, you have to do it yourself.
For TOEFL you can get a signature in a print copy from counselor and get it signed. The send the scanned copy through the counselor’s e-mail. Do the same with SAT scores because you cannot afford to send official SAT to every college out there.
Get the income and expenditure of restaurant, tax records and scan all that to send it to the colleges.

I applied last year to US colleges. Got into good colleges and rejected by some.
I could not go because of insufficient finaid. This year I am correcting my mistakes and applying. Here is a few tips general for all applicants.
1.) For those applying ED-I and EA please get recommendation earlier than dasahin and tihar holidays. Trust me I had problems getting them to colleges in time. The college administration goes on a leave in most colleges and you are wondering about the meeting the deadlines instead of preparing for SAT it is very stressful.
2.)Give SAT more than once. I did not and paid the price. I had my own problems why I didn’t give but do not do that. Other thing even if you have a 2100+ score do give sat again. I have seen one of my friends improve his score and gotten into ED-2 because of improving his score.
3.) Regardless of what your grades are, if your SAT sucks then you won’t be getting good colleges. Placements depend on SAT and fin aid depends on it too.
4.) DO NOT apply to Northeastern University unless you can pay 14k-16k. They say that they give aid to you but they don’t. The guy from Chelsea few years back was one in a million.
5.) Get at least 1350 in CR and Math then you will not be like me here applying for another year.
