With Regular Decision applications due Jan. 1, Northwestern received approximately 33,200 applications for the class of 2018, a 1.3 percent increase from last year.
With 45 percent of the class already filled through early decision applicants, Christopher Watson, dean of undergraduate admissions, predicted the overall acceptance rate will fall somewhere between 12 and 13 percent. For the class of 2017, the University received a 32,772 applications with a 13.9 percent acceptance rate.

<p>925 slots already filled ED with near 100% yield.</p>

<p>1,100 slots to be filled RD. With a yield of 33% RD, Northwestern will accept about 3,300 students RD.</p>

<p>925 ED admits + 3,300 RD admits= 4,225 total admits</p>

<p>4,225 total admits out of 33,200 applicants= 12.73% +/- overall acceptance rate for Northwestern Class of 2018.
Percentage will vary depending on projected yield.</p>
