Do major NYC consulting/banking groups recruit UVa engineers? Is it hard to get a good consulting type job coming from UVa engineering(compared to say CMU/Cornell engineering)?

Ask Redbeard or Barrons.

Here’s a link showing the companies who participated at a UVa career fair to recruit UVa students. Many of the banking organizations like Goldman Sachs hire students from all types of majors. That’s why they don’t list a specific school (i.e. Commerce School, Engineering School, etc.) For example, a good friend of mine who majored in Religion was hired by JP Morgan. Other companies though list the schools they target.

I know a current 4th year history major who is bound for Bain & Co. next year. One of the top, if not the top job you can get out of UVa in the business world. He’ll be starting in Boston, but it is also in New York and L.A. if I’m correct.
