Just a quick question - Is there any way of becoming a R&C scholar after say a couple of semesters if you do really well?

No, it’s on admit only. Sucks, doesn’t it? Especially when you have a higher Berkeley GPA than an R&C scholar and you’re not the one getting the scholarship. :(

There is a Kraft Prize of about $200 that is awarded annually to freshmen who receive 4.0’s (much easier said than done, of course). It’s not much compared to R&C, though, and R&C scholars are eligible to earn this prize too. :(

Thats crazy… There is nothing else comparable to R&C other than the Kraft prize?

So once you don’t get it on admit, no matter how well you do you ain’t gonna get any sort of scholarship?

Alumni Association puts out a leadership scholarship each year (it used to be like R&C in that it was awarded on admit only, but they just opened it up last year to continuing students) that’s $1,500 a year. Bad news is, the application is due in five-and-a-half hours. :-P

There are other scholarships for continuing students. I believe the financial aid website links to a place wher eyou can search through them.

There’s also the [University Medal/url, but it’s given to one student out of every 4,000. :3

And sure, there are [url=http://scholarships.berkeley.edu/]other scholarships](http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/prizes/honorumed.html), but R&C, the Kraft Prize, and the University Medal are the only ones awarded by the University.
