for all of those who are wondering, you can access to see whether you got regents under financial aid notification, keep clicking “continue” til you get to that page :)

how?? do i click continue on the first page?

yes continue
plus if you went to scholars day
you probably got regents

whats better, regents or chancellors

Regents was only $2000 for me /=

chancellors was 5,000/year for me. i didn’t get regents so shouldn’t regents be worth more than chancellors?

So, wait, does this mean I got the scholarship:

Seems too high and out of the blue for me to suddenly get a Regents scholarship from UCSD.

This may be a stupid question, but when I click on the “My Financial Aid Preliminary Award Notice” link, all I see is this:

Did you all submit FAFSAs or something? I didn’t, and that’s the only reason I can think of that could explain why I’m seeing this message and nothing else. Or does the phrase “we are unable to provide you with a Preliminary Award Notification” mean I didn’t get a scholarship?

To Azure326: It definitely looks like you got the nice scholarship (if you want to trust my opinion, since I can’t even figure out what’s going on). Congrats! :)

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, I applied for a FAFSA. I think what they’re saying is that you didn’t get any scholarships only because you didn’t submit a FAFSA.

^ click the Continue button underneath that message.

Azure, it looks like you got it. Do you have a lot of financial need? That would explain why it’s such a big number.

csquare - I think that number represents the amount of money over the course of 4 years (otherwise that number essentially means a free ride).

Well, I was looking at some old threads and I am under the impression that scholarships such as Regents are completely separate from FAFSA.

To csquare: I only see a Return button underneath that message. I guess I’ll just have to find out the old-fashioned way, with actual snail-mail…I’m not really expecting any scholarships though. But I still really want to know!

well, I’m guessing my EFC was too high for them to give me anything more than $2000? /= which really sucks… didn’t know SD considered need when they figured Regents, etc. out. thought it was strictly merit-based.

theantithesisof - What was your EFC? What’s considered an EFC that’s too high (Mine was something like 1060)?

yeah, well actually I know my EFC was too high. something like 37k, I think.

congrats on the full ride btw (:

Azure - my page displays $2,000 next to the Regents Scholarship, which is definitely a per-year amount.

If your EFC was only $1060, then you really should be getting the full-ride.

I’m pretty sure Regents is merit-based…I don’t see how EFC would factor into their decisions. I wonder how they determine scholarship amounts if that’s the case.

kelkyann – click the link Azure posted; it has the info about Regents being only $8000 total for students who don’t have fin. need

Regents IS merit-based. However, that’s only in determining WHO gets the scholarship. If you have no financial need, you get the 2k per year. If you have financial aid as determined by the FAFSA/EFC, then they give you more.

csquare… aaah, it all makes sense now. (;
