Registering with Eligibility Center

Hi,

I’m an international student in his Junior year who plans to play soccer at a DI college. Now what I want to know is do I still need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (I think that’s what they call it)? I’m definitely not going to be a recruited athlete, so I’m just looking to try out once I get into the college.

It’s just that I haven’t heard anything about this process from the counselor at my school and there have been quite a lot of people applying to the US in the past, so I find it hard to believe they don’t know anything about this.

Thanks

Yes, if you want to play NCAA D1 or D2 sports in college, you need to be cleared by the NCAA. That applies to anybody, including walk-ons. There is academic and amateur eligibility.
