<p>well my main essay is about how i came to realize and accept i was gay except i don’t actually put the word gay or homosexual in the essay anywhere but it’s strongly implied</p>

<p>Lol what an excuse for freshman year. Think of it this way, if everyone said that do you think that the admission officers would let everyone with depression in? And what does being gay play a role in admissions?</p>

<p>Eh, well…considering the fact i have a 2 page letter that discusses what occured, teacher recommendations that back it up, SEVERAL documented appointments that the school wellness has record of, AND a certified psychologist who has my permission to disclose my matters if need me, i think i have a pretty strong argument that im NOT BSing this *<strong><em>. Besides…you just don’t go from a 3.7gpa the first half of the year to a 3.1 without a *</em></strong>ing reason. Oh, and theres the fact that i had to work about 30 hours a week for my family’s sake, which you know could have possibly factored in the occurance?..ya, try that for an excuse because I’m sure they’ll just dismiss it as a lie.</p>

<p>jshim, I think the depression note is totally valid. I think there’s a misconception that admissions officers are completely callous robot-humans, when in reality I think they’ll take into account the problems you had freshman year. In my opinion, that your grades increased so much shows a definite resiliency and good attitude.</p>

<p>As for chances, I really haven’t a clue, being an applicant myself. But good luck.</p>

<p>Jasonjen try living his life? Why do you feel the need to attack someone like that? Honestly, do you believe that William&Mary would want someone who jumps on someone living a tough life?</p>

<p>I don’t think he’s looking for pity. He’s got a valid reason for why his grades MAY have suffered. The admissions officers will look at it and evaluate the decision for themselves. </p>

<p>And jshim, just some advice: None of the kids on this board can give you an accurate answer to your question. Your question is something only an admission officer can tell you. You can tell if you’re competitive through looking at SAT ranges, etc. Don’t let this forum dictate your feelings about applying to W&M.</p>

<p>Thanks Idefinecool, your right it shouldn’t really matter what this forum says, whether positive or not. I guess I’ll just have to wait until that decision letter comes in the mail.</p>

<p>Yes, William and Mary does want someone like me. Thats why they accepted me ED last year.</p>

<p>And don’t tell me this kid doesn’t want pity. Anyone who posts on this website that they are gay is asking for pity. Sexual orientation isn’t and shouldn’t be a factor, but evidently he is trying to exploit his own homosexuality to hopefully draw some pity from the admissions officers. You want to get into WM—try showing them that you are intellectually curious and that you can improve your own abilities as well as others. Stressing that you’re a poor homosexual doesn’t quite fit that criteria. Stop <strong><em>ing and moaning about your past and pick up a </em></strong>ing book. This kid’s ECs are a bunch of horse** “leadership” positions that are clearly intended to pad his application. I have never seen or talked to this kid before but I can already tell you he hasn’t done anything in high school but go through the motions and feel sorry for himself. Maybe he will get lucky and get accepted. Whatever. I would just feel TERRIBLE for the kid who got ****ty grades in high school but actually has something more to offer to this campus than a sob story and a handful of excuses.</p>
