Rejected: Did you get a letter encouraging a transfer

My DS got rejected at Uva (OOS). We knew it was a stretch, but I thought he did have a shot.

The rejection letter talked about how they couldn’t accept everyone who met their standards and encouraged him to consider applying as a transfer. I thought that was a little unusual.

Did everyone get the same letter? Or did that only go to some people?

I was rejected also, and got the same letter. I really thought I was going to be waitlisted…so I was wondering the same thing!

There is one deny letter.

Got the same letter and wondered also. Virginia was the first choice of my kid by a mile. Really fell in love with the school after visiting, and knows a couple of kids already there. Taking a shot at transferring was being considered, but I guess that doesn’t seem likely now.

if he’s in love with it and thinks he’ll be happiest there, transferring from a community college is a great route. there’s a great guaranteed admission agreement between virginia community colleges and uva, it might be worth looking in to.

We live in the Midwest, so I don’t know if the cc route works for in-state residents only, but I’ll check it out. Thank you for the tip. He was accepted at Michigan, so that’s the plan as of now.

The VCCS agreement applies to everyone, not just Virginians.

In case there is anyone else wondering about this here is a link to the VCCS agreement:

Thanks to all on this thread for the help. Very much appreciated.
